got live xs 2.1. but it don't seem to have or need a serial?

I found my original install cd that came with the X Session controller.

Live XS 2.1 OS X is on the cd....

but it doesn't seem to have a serial or need one, it installs and runs
without asking for one.

so how do I take the upgrade offer to live 5?

got my 200 euros ready to go...

under "Help" in the menu bar you should see a tab to update.

yep, I tried that.

it just takes me to the upgrade webpage which still wants a serial number...

I have a qualifying product, live xs 2.1 but there doesn't seem to have been a serial number provided with it?

what to do...

I've emailed ableton and got no reply....

can anyone else that bought a an Evolution X Session let me know if they got a serial for Live 2.1 XS version and if so where was it located?

eg on the cdrom, on an insert in the X Session box etc...

don't want to miss out on the upgrade offer

I got an answer back from ableton....

live 2.1 xs mac version has no serial number...

you need to contact them direct show them a copy of your receipt for the purchase of the x-session and you can get the upgrade offer.

i bought my x-session on ebay and it came with Live XS but no serial number. And no receipt either since I got it used off of ebay. Haven't heard back from Ableton yet.

I would assume you could show proof of having an original CD. And if a serial number isn't needed, than the original CD should suffice as the "license".

I first got into Live the exact same way. That's going back quite a stretch to version 2.1, yikes! Was that a recent purchase? Anyway, I upgraded successfully without having to e-mail the Abes or nothing like that. Unfortunately I don't remember the specifics but the serial must be there on the disc somewhere.
