Sony MDR-V700's or MDR-7506 ' s

Post by djadonis206 » Wed Mar 01, 2006 10:21 pm

I'm getting a new pair of headphones - I left my last pair of MDR-7506's at my last gig so i need a new pair

The big silver ones are cool but seem kinda flimsy - plus I've always got good results with the Black ones - but they're both $99 right now

what do you think - I use them for djing records and cd's oh, and mixing in Ableton late at night in my room by myself

Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

You're joking, right? I love my V700's. Had 'em for years and they're still good as new and still sound great. Beware, though... There are some counterfeight ones going around (ebay and the likes) called Z700's. I bought a pair for about $70 and they are shite...

Mate, before you do, check out the price of the beyer dynamic DT150 where you are. They're absolutely ace. Flattest response in headphones I've ever heard, also the biggest (everyone knows you're serious when you turn up with those bad boys!)

If you're monitoring late at night, youo dont want DJ headphones, seriously.

Been there, broke the top end.

hey adonis-

i loved the 700's because you get some killer bass in them (which i like for djing), while the 7506's are a bit more flat, but they're notorious for breaking at the hinge... i know about 10 people who've had this happen to them. at the moment i'm rocking the ghetto duct tape around one of the sides...grrr.

so my vote goes to the 7506s! and plus, you can use them @ gigs and in the studio as well, whereas the 700s are a bit too dynamic for studio use i think...

I knew it - the 7506's - classics

I've always had a pair - only used the silver ones when I "forgot" mine

Nice - but I see all these pictures of the big UK jocks using some funky headphones

anyone know what Dave Clarke rocks -not that I'm going to hunt 'em down just curious

FYI how nice are those decks

v700 are known for having an uber exaggerated bass response. if you're up to that, get'em. for me, they are toys for that exact reason. it's not a coincidence that 7506 are monitoring standard in the industry.

v700s (spit) shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as 7506 or 7509s.

the 700s are expressly marketed as DJ headphones - of course they have an exaggerated bass response.

If you look at them as monitoring cans, of course they suck....

how many god damn hairs can we split? I use the 700's but I only use cans for djing never for studio work. If your just using them to dj the 700's are very nice. It's up to you man.
