Hey just to let you know, i talked to a guy from Metric Halo about x86 drivers and they were internally beta testing them, and said it would be at most a few months after release that they were up and running!

What will keep me on my powerbook for a while is Native Instruments, love their stuff, and will wait until at least Reactor is ported. :)

I think it will be a bit earlier than a few months. B.J. from Metric Halo wrote on the mailing list that the drivers would be released shortly, but Console will still run under Rosetta. He said that Rosetta performance for Console is very fast and therefore doesn't require updating... But the drivers are practically ready.

I have a Mobile I/O too and a MacBook on the way, so I'm anxious about these drivers too! :D

I'm waiting for RME to make a compatible PCI card for my Multiface.

Three questions:

1, Is this new PCI Express slot referred to as PCI-E, PCI-X, or "ExpressCard/34" ? (the last is what it's called on the Apple tech specs page)

2, Anybody have an email contact for RME support to ask them for a time-frame? (can't find it on their english site)

3, I know the current RME cardbus uses a firewire-type interface, but a custom non-firewire protocol. Can anyone confirm this will also be possible for them to do with the new card format?

Thanks in advance

M-Audio Ozonic Working!

Post by aueua » Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:40 pm

Hi!
Just to let you know that I successfully tested Live 5.2b4 with M-Audio Ozonic and its 1.7 beta (Universal Binary) drivers on my MacBook Pro 2.0 GHz, 1 GB RAM.
Sound quality is excellent and all the MIDI controls work flawlessly.

As for now, Live also works without problems, but I haven't tested all the features yet.

Cheers!
Aueua

Metric Halo have a driver out now!

2 out of three of the cards I use will work, MOTU 828 and the RME Fireface have drivers, Novation will probably soon.

I've been in contact with RME and they told me there were no plans set in stone as yet to develop the Express Card interface.

In the meantime I've bought a Fireface 800.

Thanks in advance
