Trouble with Reaktor in 5.03

Post by paul » Fri Mar 03, 2006 8:32 am

I posted this over in general, apologies.
does this link work: http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=

Anyway, just upgraded from 3 to 5.03, and it's best thing I've done in ages.

Especially happy with VST support ... EXCEPT the one instrument that won't work is Reaktor, my favourite of the lot. Version 4.

It's always worked fine in FL studio, rewired to Live 3.
It launches fine in a MIDI track in 5.03.
It receives MIDI, the MIDI track receives MIDI ... but audio out is just feeble clicks.
Worst of all, it seems after running Reaktor the entire PC turns critically unstable and does major crash, even after I've closed Reaktor down.

Does this sound like I've done something obviously wrong in routing? I've not changed any settings in Reaktor, and not sure I'd know how to anyway.

Appreciate any tips, even if it's where to start looking.

Hey Paul..

Well, I don't know which version 4 of Reaktor you have... but its possibly the one I had - cant remember, v4-point-something... Well I always found it to be a bit buggy... sounds like the very same problem I always had with it, trying to run it in Cubase SX 1and2. Looks like it should be working fine, but theres something up between the programs' midi connections - like the midi signal is just not being recieved properly in Reaktor...

...Until Reaktor 5 came out, I had to work around this by recording audio from reaktor outside of Cubase and using the sampled audio, instead of the vst. Very annoying!

But I have to say, I have Ableton 5.03 and Reaktor 5 is the only third-party Vst I use (its more than enough!).
It works perfectly. So all I can suggest is you upgrade to Reaktor 5. And if you like Reaktor, the upgrade is ESSENTIAL!! You are seriously missing out with v4. Aside from the fact that v4 is buggy, v5 is far less CPU intensive, and somehow at the same time, far smoother and more powerful...

And you'll be pleased to know, all your favorite ensembles for v4 work and are included with v5

:D

My whole computer would freeze up completly when using reaktor 5 on 5.0.3
No problems in cubase though.
I don't think it is anything you have done paul just 5.0.3 incompatibility with certain plug ins
I have tested 5.2 beta and R5 seems to be working ok with that
I am just waiting for that

Cheers guys
I guess I can't moan too much, cos R4 works perfectly well hosted in FL Studio, so I can always re-wire into Live ... but that's a shame when I shouldn't need to!

Much as I love FL Studio I just can't see myself using it very much any more, except as a beat box ... like it started life. Sad really, but Live 5 rocks.

Thanks again ... for now R4 lives in FL studio only.
