Faderfox modules rock.

You guys are just jealous ;)

i could literally kill somebody with my lx1. Thats how though those modules are.
Built like tanks. Not like el cheapo hardware.

Shipping sounds a bit high though. But what are you US dudes bitching about? You guys pay less for everything. Simple example: try to find a brand new yamaha i88x in europe for 400$ ;)

Overhere you gotta be a kapitalist to justify buying food. No wonder we could care less if a macbook costs 3000€.

Try and do gigs with a bcr2000. or any similar cheaply built plastic controller.
good luck. you'd need to buy a new one every 2 month...

Faderfox is a one time purchase and is made to last. if you don't get that, then don't bother comparing them in price with cheap mass produced stuff.

Take the example of the Looperlative looper. It's 1400$. expensive but made by one person that isn't dependent on another company's policies. Niche market products aren't cheap because they require a lot of time, energy, dedication and aren't that easily viable...

Your man will only sell his modules if it's worthwhile for him, otherwise you'll be left with second hand models of the 1st generation that you'll buy for 400 or 500 dollars on Ebay in Europe (without including shipping...)

Im buying 2 anyways.

Having said that, Mathias' post just convinced me:
I'm gonna get a Faderfox in the future for DJing. Never really thought about the pocket-size thing. That rocks. Battery operated: That rocks

DJed last thursday no room anywhere and had to put my jacket on the SL1200, put the Laptop on top of that. Faderfox on the Laptop would've been SWEET.

If you think it's too expensive stop whining and get something else.
I got a Behringer it's big bang for the buck (well Euro actually) but it doesn't fit on my laptop.

The reasons why I go through these buying selling procedures are that you cannot really estimate checking in a storeand prices in Europe are sick Korg MX is over 800 US ? Remote SL 600 US $. I bought each for around 200$ less getting tehm from sweetwater.
I am talking Germany here in UK prices are even higher.
Nobody is forced to get Faderfox but it is worth if you play out more then couple of times in a month.
While avarage lifespann of "good" units like Korg or Yamaha is 1-2 years ( I dont even bother about Behringer kind) my Faderfoxes will be still used by my grandchildren

Is this true? 1-2 years til a MIDI controller goes pow? What a good market to get into then! What type of use/abuse are we talking about?

Yeah, i suffered from Remote 25's promises that just aren't real. The thing looks cool, but the faders are bad, the encoders jump all around...I'm so dissapointed. I had to get a bcr2000 last month because i was in a hurry for a gig and a friend of mine had the remote 25 (he was out of the country)...Despite i thought it would be rubbish, it totally blew the remote away...

Bad, bad remote25.
Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

I understand that, Mathias, which was why I suggested partnering with another company to expand production. Even though you wouldn't be making each unit personally, there's no reason why others couldn't make the units to your specifications. I just think you'd be doing yourself a big favor by exploring your options in this regard. Henry Ford wouldn't have gotten very far if he'd built each car himself.

Yes, they're specialized: that's why I want them. I understand all that, but that understanding doesn't increase my salary: I still can't afford them. I can, however, afford cheaper products. They might be of lower quality than the Micromodul, but it's either that or nothing. I can't buy your products: should I therefore not buy any MIDI controller at all?

Making music is the ideal, yes. However, I still have to take into consideration the cost of any purchase and how much it will benefit me, whether I'm buying a MIDI controller or a new shirt. Music-making is a hobby right now, not a source of income, so at this time I can't justify spending as much money as your units cost. It's by no means a slam against you or any kind of insult: they just cost too much money for my budget.

I'd sure love to get my hands on them, but the price will keep that from happening.

ok, yeah 48 euros to ship something that weighs as much as an iPod is absolutely absurd. and hopefully this covers the import duties (not so if you purchase from dolphin music in the UK, as I learned the hard way). yeah, 10 euros for a Paypal charge is shitty too. yeah, they're more than run of the mill MIDI controllers. yeah, there are reasons for this. and yeah, it still hurt when I bought mine.

but I forgot about the $ spent once I started playing with them and there's nothing I'd rather use now. so make your own decisions on whats important to you and whether you choose Korg, Evolution, Doepfer, ..., or Faderfox...you'll get what you pay for.

I'm not saying I"m going to get one, but if I did, which controller would someone who has both recommend?

The LV2 or LX2? They look pretty much the same except one has 'lots' of buttons and the other one has lots of knobs, buttons, and faders.

I'd like to see some more reviews on these...

Look for reviews of the LV1/LX1. These new ones are hotter, but they work the same way basically. I know Computer Music has had one.

If you just are going to get one, buy the LV2. It is the general purpose controller.
