crashes even more frequent in b4 b5

Post by mezzmerized » Sun Mar 05, 2006 8:57 pm

I just unlocked my 5.0.1 about a month ago.
I have continually had crashes(at least once per hour, never worked on a set without a crash!)

Tried the 5.0.3 upgrade and it seemed better for about an hour, and then WHAMMO!!! "A serious program error has antagonized you again" or some such message.

Soooo... I downloaded the 5.2B4 about a week ago.

It seemedbetter for about half an hour, and then "serious error" enema again.

Soooo... 5.2b5.

It never even showed signs of improvement.

Plus rendered audio is full of artifacts.

I have sent Logs to support and haven't heard much from them.

This is seriously beginning to irritate me.

Live 5 is my first Ableton product, so I don't have the "luxury" of Live 4 to revert to (from all acounts, 4 is at least stable). All I have is crappy old Cubase.

I even tried it on another machine just to see if it helped. No such luck

Ahh, for the days of 4-track Tascam's, turntables and things that actually work.

I understandings the frustrations but the truths Live is near 100% stable because the bugs arse small there is wont not make live crash becasue they are small bugs really. When my live crashings it is max cpu not bugs so this is really the problem with live 5. Maybe you should move all your vst plug from the vst folder so when Live loading it not sees the vst then you should wait to see if crashings happen then putting back vst to vst folder one at a time and check to see if live crashings. I am sure it is somethinks else like a vst or audio driver to make live crash for you.

C'mon, man, quit it with the fake bad english. It's offensive.

anyway, aside from that, i agree with what he says. try cleaning up your vst folder as step one.

Only 3 plugs in my vst folder: Amplitube, Sampletank2, and T Racks

If it's on of them that Live can't handle, then the prog is worthless anyway

Aplitube, T-Racks and SampleTank are oldschool plugs. I don't see why they would crash your system if thats all your running...

Of course Live 5 won't render any of my current projects down without crashing so..... who knows.
I'm not exactly stoked on Live 5 at the moment myself.

good luck

I can't work with Live 5 at the moment as a DAW.
Too many bugs
Too many crashes

I gave up on the betas for now

maybe they'll get it right soon

But I studied up on Sonar 5 and it is AWESOME!

I picked it up last week and it sounds great, is very intuitive, and comes with Perfect Space Convo verb.

Never been a cakewalk fan, but Sonar 5 is a VAST improvement.

I'm still using Cool Edit/ Audition for dithering and some mastering, but I would still like to use some of the features in Live as well.

I am pretty sure live has problems with IK multimedia stuff.
It has problems with just about everything though ...
Live 5 for me has been a piece of shit since day 1 and from what I can tell the main bugs are not gonna be fixed.(Maybe a bit harsh, I mean there are a few big problems stopping me from being able to use it properly at the moment..I just hope ableton can do their thing)

Since I rely heavily on the sampletank engine, I have stopped using Live for MIDI completely. I waited over nine months for resolution of IK compatibility issues, then finally decided to really learn Project 5 for MIDI, and use Live 5 for audio only via rewire. That solved my problems.

I use amplitube and tracks(though i don't use tracks much) and both work great for me. I haven't had bad crashing problems since 5.0.3.

maybe it doesn't like sampletank?
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
