hi folks! last week end I had the pleasure to see bt having one of his famous performances , it was in virgin store of times square nyc . the following night I went to the club where he was playing . I was trying to figure out what he does. I just could see that he used live all night and nothing else , but thr thing is that I dont think he makes music live , I think that what he does is just use live's clipes as triggers for hole songs . I dont know if anyone has more info about this . I also saw bt using some kind of box , which is very small and what it does its a some stutter effect , it uses something alike the ROLAND'S d-beam , BECAUSE EVERYTIME HE PUT HIS HAND ON IT , IT WOULD STUTTER THE SONG . preety cool!!! . anyone knows about this box?????.
BT'S DET UP: powerbook using live , m;audio radium, m-audio quatro and magical box

Hey Zebastian,
the box he is using is called the eyris. You can find it here:
http://www.synesthesiacorp.com
The software he controls with the eyris was custom written for him.
hope that helps.

I had read (Remix I think?) that he was using two laptops for some shows, one runnign Reason and the other live. Apparently he has live arrangements of his tracks, and also samples and loops some of the stuff he's dj'ing on the fly through Live. He talked about putting channels in record in Live to extend outros and grooves, and using Reason to add some embellishments, as well as overlaying the clips of his own stuff.
Totally brilliant, that guy. Awesome to see someone who's such an expert in the nitty-gritty aspects of prodluction... Apparently he's writing a lengthy book on time-correction that will be out soon, also.

YES!!!! the box bt uses is the EYRIS , I just looked at the website .......but does this box worth its price???....if I got custom made software for my needs its would great like bt has his own....but is it powerful for everyone else???? .
I also read some interviews of bt....he says about using reason....but only saw him using live the hole time....and he wasnt even pressing keys in the laptop nor the keyboard.....what was he doing???????maybe just playing a pre recorded set and adding some effects????

I saw BT at the Groove Apple store for the launch of the new Ipod.
I was asking his assistant (because he does not know too much about computers, he did even know the Imic existed) some questions about software they use. His assistant was very friendly.
Then comes Mr BT and he tells us (consultant and I) he does not have time for chit-chat. Even his girlfriend was a little surprised.
That guy might have some talents but he should watch his ego. He's still number 50 on the Top DJ list. And he should learn how to use OSX and about his machine.

Yeah right. His assistant was helping him and 1 mn after he told me that he was chatting with some other people. Maybe he did not like my French accent.
Anyway. DOn't have anything against the guy.
He's probably good at what he does. I thought he would be more cool.

i heard someone say that they saw bt play live, and halfway through the show they noticed that the keyboard he was supposedly jamming away on wasn't even plugged in.
maybe it's true, maybe it's not.

No hes not, I have met him a few times and hes an egotistical maniac that genuinely believes his own hype. Basically he does belive hes a genious.. During a conversation with him, if your not boosting his ego he has the attention span of a Goldfish.
Still, its good to see him using Live. I just get a bit sick of hearing him in interviews talking about how he was the first one to invent sampling or whatever else it is he keeps bleating on about.
As for his music I personally think its quite bland. Give me the Crystal Method any day of the week. :)O
