It should also be added (not surprisingly) that Front 242's new album is by far the most inspiring thing he has released in nearly a decade - and also the first time (to my knowledge) he has used Live for a cd.

Really great stuff and experimental in a very unique way. You can pick out the trademark Live time stretching effects he uses - fun on that level to listen to also.

I just played at Maschinenfest with Live, and it was really great. I was using the beta version, but had no probs.

Also, I found that using the XPlite software (which strips IE and other crap out) made an enormous difference with Live.

I didn't realize 2000/xp lite were out already ... excellent ... 98lite made 98se already solid enough for musicians ... win2000/xp lite will be must have for musicians : http://www.litepc.com/

Yeah, XpLite is fantastic. Also much easier to use than 98lite.

oh. hey! I just picked up the Dissonant Structures compilation a few weeks ago and really enjoyed your track. I'm looking forward to getting your album, but even more than that, to seeing you perform at the Information Wants To Be Free festival! You, Mago, Silk Saw, Vromb and the others that night have me thinking Saturday will be my favorite part of the festival. I'm planning on using Live for my set on sunday (right before bad sector!!) which will be a first for me... I have my fingers crossed. What was your setup if I may ask? Did you have a back-up plan if for some reason Live crashed or your machine spontaneously bit it?

and as for this thread... in the future I plan to use Live to help produce/compose my ambient industrial stuff.

Thanks mate :) What's the name of your project?

For Maschinenfest, I used Laptop running Live, UC-33, and Oxygen8. Everything went well - did have very clean partition (using xplite). If there was a crash I would have probably just cried :) Nothing much to be done in that situation....

See you at the Information Wants To Be Free festival (r u at Berlin?).

 ummm... err... "cruelty campaign". An inside joke that went a little too far... :D

Nope, Los Angeles.

Glad to hear your set went off without a hitch. What version of Live were you using? I'm still trying to figure out how I'll pull this off live, although I've just about got it. In the past my bandmate and I triggered everything from Unity over an occassional backing minidisc. Now the bandmate is gone and it's just me. So I bought a new powerbook to run Live on (instead of relying on the minidisc and bandmate) and will also be running Unity on the my older powerbook. I'm figuring if one machine goes down the other can temporarily keep me going. Should be fine... using a kenton control freak for Live and my yamaha cbxk1 mini controller for Unity.

Anyway, I expect Saturday to be great fun and I'll try and say hello after your set sometime.

best,
scotty

As in Tesco? Heard your 'Distressed Signals' - excellent stuff!

For MF I actually took the risk and used the v.3 RC, as it ran a little smoothly. In hindsight it was perhaps a little stupid and risky :)

Yeah, it took quite a while to work it all out, and I'm thinking of changing it all again :) That's what I like about Live - so many ways of doing stuff.

Definitely!

Yes that's me. Glad you enjoyed the cd!

As for version... for now I'll prepare everything in 2.1.2 and then when I buy v3 I'll test my set in there before migrating forward.

see you in berlin!

Cool! Yeah, I think I actually got a copy of your cd from you (including a copy of Animal Man, baseball cards etc :)) - very nice stuff indeed.

I'm looking forward to v.3 of Live - some of the new features looked really good in the beta, although I didn't tempt fate by messing with them too much.

Catch you in Berlin.
