Still the specs not the sound.
Could u emulate THE SOUND of a simple sp1200 in software? or a mpc 60(and the incredible timing and groove)? in software?

i am realy wondering how.

Would daftpunk or ll cool j or todd terry or run dmc or etcetctec, the same if they did all theyr songs with software?

Is this why the latest Prodigy album sucked so much in sound ? cuz it was made in reason.

Actually The prodigy's last album was sketched in Reason with most of the sample work being done their.
All the synths where 100% analog.
Everything else was tracked and mastered in Pro-Tools I'm afraid.
He may have used Reason for parts of it but all the basslines / leads /analog FX where hardware tracked into Protools HD.
So the album sucked because it was a particularly sucky album IMHO.

If I might add Autechre sound pretty much the same wether they're using hardware or software oddly enough.
Kraftwerk Live atleast don't sound intrinsicly worse for using Sony Vaio's either ...then again nore does Square Pusher or Venetian Snares etc etc etc....
Luke Vibert sounds damn cool with both as does Uziq also.

Actually Lola, most of the attitude in this thread has been brought by you - starting right in the 1st page, calling someone who only expressed an opinion "mr bullshit" does kind of create a certain kind of emotional impression to the reader....
you really do sound more like you're talking to a nagging partner who's trying to understand why you've spent so much money on gear that you never use...

All is done with reason, his synths are samples, and its mixed at the strongroom london.

The point a try to make (again) is that it does not mather how hi end your hardware is, in the last stage of the chain.
U can't polish a bad source.

I finaly hope, that u will understand me now ten posts later.

I think you might want to double check that. Every interview I've read with Liam about the last album, he stated that Reason was used as a sketchpad and that they actually rerecorded the instrument parts using a few of his analog synths once they got in the studio.

Why is it that u can hear that typical reason sound.
And btw he sold his anlog stuff a long time ago, sampled his gear back then.

If you already have a midi interface these can be had for peanuts.
You do NOT even need to connect the audio outs on them.
Just MIDI it up to impulse and something like MicroTonic and you have a very cheap and effective XOX based sequencing solution for absolutely peanuts that saves you dicking around with a mouse when writing beats.
very true. lots of fun.

Your whole post was very informative and spot on. People don't know about so many aspects of hardware.
