ha thanks all! its really gonna be a blast. cant wait. the lucky lady actually grew up in DC hence my desire to play there! she used to rock out at the Black Cat as a teenager.

some of you may have met her at the show and if not you may at future shows. fortune-ate-lee she is awesomer than awesome supporter of me and my music! she is a substance abuse counselor who is soon returning to school for a Masters. gonna have a big old partee in the nyc and tie the knot etc and then i get me a honeymoon to an undisclosed location away from work!

any word on when the Baltimore show is gon be?

peesh,

First, I have space on the College Park Campus available
for early evenings (no late nighters). It's free, and
as large, if not larger than the Black Cat space.

Second, there is a venue in Baltimore called the Library
Of Progress. It's a private warehouse space with a
sound system already setup. They do pay parties there.
All nighters okay.

Third, I have a small 700 Watt sound system, available for
free use.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hosting Touring Artists

Post by mylkoa » Wed Mar 15, 2006 5:02 pm

Does anyone have experience with setting up networks for hosting
out of town artists?

Do any networks/organizations exist to help touring artist with
room/board to keep down tour costs?

I would gladly give a couch for a touring artists to crash on, and
I would be interested in recieving the same favor when I decide to tour.

A: I work for College Park as a maintenance man, and one of the buildings
I take care of is Tawes Theatre. I'm cool with the theatre manager Bill Brandewien, and he told me I could use one of his teaching spaces for gatherings. The room I;m talking about is used for drama rehersahls and instruction, it has (small) tiered seating for about 20 people, and it has a large open area about the size of the Black Cat back room. It's free, and parking is nearby (as well as metro). Only thing is, it's only for evenings, no all nighters.

Seems like there isn't one in the room.

Andrew, you mentioned you've got a 700 watt system, any other specs on that?

I've got a Bose system (the one with the tower speaker) w/ sub that I'd like to try out in a room that size, but don't have much in the way of a mixer

For sound we've got a few options, then.

So, can I propose that we in the Balto/Wash region meet at College Park sometime in the next few weeks for a user group meeting followed by some Livesets, which might be offered for the enjoyment of a roomful of audience :) ?

Andrew, not sure how far your permission to use the room extends: were you thinking along the lines of promoting this on the campus, maybe even charging a modest fee?

CP idea sounds cool, although I prefer to stick around b-more. I really want to check out that Bose tower system. That's the multi-direwctional right?

Yes. It can sound pretty good, I haven't exercised it as much as I'd like, so I'm looking forward to using it in a performance.

Is it too transparent a bump to note the obscure observation that this thread is the most widely viewed North American user-group-oriented "Local" forum thread?
