Novation Ableton Live v5.0.5 with Automapping!!!!!
Its here...its here!!!!
www.ableton.com/live-novation-update
You can download this if you have a ReMOTE SL and want to use Remote SL Automap before 5.2 is released! yeeahhaaaa. Aparrently it works in demo mode too. Also, if you have a full license, it will actually be the full version NOT THE LITE version.
I have a full license and just downloaded it, and it works great!

Received my SL today so I do not even know pre automapping.
I am surprised, didnt expect it to be that good. They realy took it to another level. I wont even think of using Korg anymore. Korg and all the others will have to really streach. Now I understand why Abletonians didnt waste their time on 3 years old technology of Korg. Remote was a toy,SL could be better built but do I really want more weight ? and it is much better then any other Novation, I always liked the feel of their keys but these are perfekt.
SL is the new standard
Thanks again to the poster who tipped about 350$ dealer. 305 Euro for this great tool is really something, OK KungFu , you are right 50$ more then Faderfox but what it does is at least 500 (though LX still is perfekt for what it does) I shamelessly benefit from exploitation of struggling Chinese sweatshop companeros.

updated Live and the SL25, no problems, read and click.
Set the SL25 up in Lives preferences
scrolled the SL25 to the Live template.
the left LCD reads "Please select a device in Live to edit it..."
opened an audio only set, the names of the tracks appear above the faders.
faders become volume, then pan, then send A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H/I/J... holy shit. Hit the lowest button on the right outside edge, the faders control Send A, hit it again, the faders control send B, etc. I just did it with Send E, I could probably do more.
I gotta RTFM and... just read it, a whole 2 pages, check it out, it's with the Remost SL update link at the sticky.
The left side is adaptable to whatever device you select, check the manual for details. There's room to program your own settings, with MIDI or automapping (I believe). There's full scene up/down/fire/stop control with the buttons on the outside left.
Time to get off the interweb and PLAY...

just read the 2 page manual from novation site . .
I'm a little bit dissapointed you have to choose the instrument to be controlled in live with the mouse . . . I was hoping you could browse thru the instruments from the remote to allow real mouseless operation . . .

I don't have operator, but EVERY single plug in I tried the SL had an answer for it. For each plug-in the encoders at the top left control parameters, the real kicker is that by hitting the scroll up/down buttons there are PAGES AND PAGES of controls for some plug-ins, Moog, NI, Korg, Live, Edirol... I took it to a friend's place, we both had control over Live at the same time (Kontrol 49, SL25, keyboard/mouse <any1 wanna buy a Kontrol 49?>), it'll be cool when his SL comes in in a week or two. There's a button mapped on the SL25 to keep control over the current plug-in regardless of what's highighted afterwards, so I could just tweak/play on a vst while my friend did whatever, that's a nice way to collaborate.LOFA wrote:Anxiously awaiting feedback about performance with operator and multiple presets.
The only time there was a CPU load issue was due to VST tweaking, Automap didn't seem to have any effect on CPU load.
As for Impulse, I had to assign the pads to MIDI notes C3, D3, etc, but once I saved them to the template, I'll never have to do it again, and EVERY Impulse is mapped that way, I just have to highlight one.
There isn't individual clip launch or fader A/B assign, but there are empty encoders these can be assigned to. My BCR will compliment this nicely. Can Automap assignments be tweaked by users? The philosophy on the SL25 is to use MIDI assign to fill in the gaps.
There are some nice looking gig bags on the novation site but no purchase info.
Last thing I learned tonight is that sampling the movie "The Harder They Come" is a tasty musical biscuit, reggae beats were on the menu 2nite... actually it was the opening drum line from 'Walk This Way' slowed/pitched way the fuck down (a la DJ Shadow) with the opener from 'Venus' by The Velvet Underground (Drone), a simple reggae bass line, some movie quotes and a few hours of 2 chord vamping, good jam.
..so glad I don't have to work tomorrow, I still have a fe wmore hours until dawn. I'm still in shock.
pardon the drunken rant, I'm in gear lust
