Geez... Where are my VSTs?

Post by Sales Dude McBoob » Wed Mar 15, 2006 4:28 pm

Howdy-

One of my coworkers recently upgraded to Live 5 (from Live 2!). He was pretty excited about it, with good reason. But he was having trouble making Live recognize his VSTs. I have never had any trouble with this myself, every instrument I ever loaded into my computers just showed up in Live's browser without any of my assistance.

Welp, wouldn't you know it, next thing you I'm having the same trouble myself. I recently updated my G5 to Tiger. Last night I loaded Pro Tools 7 and Reaktor 5. Loaded up Live and lo and behold the only VST in my quivver is Reaktor 5.

So I went to the preferences and scanned for plug-ins... it didn't find any. So I clicked on the next button there to locate them myself. I did this and found Absynth, clicked on that, and then the name Absynth appeared in the preferences screen, but not in my VST folder in my Live browser.

I didn't spend very much time on this but I'm wondering if you guys can suggest something my buddy and I can try later on tonight.

Thanks

Try unselecting your VST folder and closing Live. Now, reopen Live and select your custom folder again, and then rescan.
