Expresscard Firewire adaptors

Post by Vance » Sat Mar 18, 2006 1:45 pm

My laptop is one of the lucky few with Expresscard... I say lucky because there's about 2 manufacturers making expresscard firewire interfaces atm as fas as I can tell, and it's pretty damn hard getting one from either manufacturer shipped to Australia...

So before I go wasting millions of dollars on shipping, has anyone here had any experience with expresscard firewire adaptors at all? Specifically, are any of them capable of bus-powering a Firewire audio interface without the need for an external power supply? Coz if not then there's kinda no point really...

Anyones thoughts/comments/bitch sessions would be appreciated :D

before you get it shipped check the size of express card slot - there is expresscard 54 and expresscard 34 (this is what there is on the macbook). I have only seen firewire cards for 54 - but companies are working on shrinking to 34
