computer keyboard for knobs and faders..?

i travel/fly a lot and i am always stuck somewhere where pulling out a controller just is not practical. does anyone know if it is possible to assign faders and knobs to the computer keyboard? traktor has a system worked out where you assign increase and decrease each to a separate computer key which allows you to raise or lower a slider or turn a knob by pressing one key or the other. (i don't like traktor at all so don't suggest i switch!) i am still finding my way thru live so i don't know if i have missed this or that it is just not possible. forgive me if the answer is obvious, i'm just trying to learn live as fast as possible!

yes! thanks, (i thought i tried that!?) and on a mac the function key gives a faster movement.
