Well, i am, kinda.

I have to admit that since live 4 i haven't powered up my mpc2000 except to teach other people how to use it.

Crazy. It used to be all i used for sequencing. I was a holdout against the laptop thing for a long time, but live changed that for me....

anyway, why do you ask?

live replaced my MPC in v.4 too.
when they added the shuffle/swing, that did it for me.
addition of a Trigger Finger was icing on the cake.

it was difficult to give up the MPC, i wrote alot of my better-known material on just the MPC with a rack of FX. But i'm no longer regretting it, Live just keeps getting better and better.

I use the trigger finger and live combo. For some reason, i *really* want the mpc's metronome sound so i can use it in Live. I've tried asking on many forums for a .wav file of the up and down metro sound with no luck.

i clean my trigger finger pads too much. ocd.

i run the two together often and anything i come up with in live i export and send to the mpc then sequence from there. i like live for many creative things, but for me, i can often get so much more bite and feeling in my music when sequencing the meat of the beats from the mpc. i can't explain it, but if i take 8 drums sounds off my hard drive and make a beat with impulse and live and take the same 8 sounds and put them in the mpc and make the same beat, from the mpc it just sounds so much nicer. but the other difference is where i may want to go from there. live does offer a zillion more avenues destinations but i'm not always happier when i get there.

i don't think i could stop using either one, they both contribute to my satisfaction at diffent times.

I'm using my mpc just as a sampler, triggered by Live.
Since MIDI was added to Live, I seldom use the mpc as a sequencer.
MacBook Pro 2.0, 2 GB RAM, Mac OS 10.6.8, Live 7.0.18, etc.

I Dont have an MPC but I use My Roland MV 8000 with live, for all my drums, samples and any time i want to do any real heavy live instrumentation.

Strange I really dont use any Midi sequencing at all any more, its just audio.

I'd have to agree with Moneyclip. I had an MPC alongside LIve and sold it since i felt i could do a lot more with Live alone. That and the portability of a laptop convinced me to sell my MPC.
It's been a good 3 years and i miss that thing :(
I listened to my old tracks and there's this "feel" that i like about it which for some reason i can't seem to get with Live.
On the other hand, Live obviosuly does things that would make the MPC explode so it is true that both can go hand in hand.
I dunno, i may buy one again eventually but i highly doubt it since i have been spoiled rotten with portability now.
What would be VERY cool is if AKAI would make a software sequencer that mimics the 2000XL. Call it the MP-Cquencer and have it mimic it to a tee. Have it run VSTs/AU and it could be a nice addenda to a portable DAW.

I just wanted to trade tips and see what different ways you guys use Live and the

MPC. I got into Live just for the elastic audio, but now I use it in a few different

ways. I use the combo more like Moneyclip and Pharoah.

Have you guys noticed that the tempos arent the same in Live and the MPC?

When I import files I have to slightly readjust the tempo I think Live is slightly

slower then the MPC. [/list]

Do you have all your drums and samples bounced to a stereo file on the MV8000?

I take it you then bring it back into Live?

I was thinking it would be called Software Production Center or SPC.

I have a 2000xl which I started using again when getting my live act toghether because I wanted to avoid to have too many tracks going on in live so all the drums plus some bleeps and blops are now in the mpc which is sending midi clock to live and to the 909, its kinda a nostalgia thing using the mpc again.
The only hassle is copying the sound on the zip drive in order to load them in the mpc... even making programs is slow but the punchyness of it's sound and its swing are wonderful payback for the time "lost".
