I have to decide if i'm going to buy this laptop from a friend of mine when he comes into town in 2days. I will be using Live and Reason and Kontakt
that's all I will be doing. I know that the Ibook will run these programs, what I need to know specifically is how many tracks I can get in Live. I'll will be using it like a multitrack recorder/sampler. and Reason will be my instrumentation. so does anybody know how many tracks i can get with the ibook, with and without efx.
any light you can shed on my situation will be appreciated.

Depending on the price you have to pay, I believe an Intel/AMD solution would work much faster. Running Reason and Live at the same time will put some load on the CPU. Using Kontakt as an VSTi means you will have to run a host sequencer, too.

The number of tracks without FX is limited
by disk performance. By placing loops into
RamDisk, you should manage quite a lot (perhaps
20+ stereo tracks?). Without doing
so, you might get 8-11 stereo tracks on the
ibook. not sure what the disk performance
is there.

With FX, it depends strongly on the FX
you use!
