Hey Glitchrock,

make sure you select the remote sl as a control surface in 'remote control surfaces' in preferences, in ableton. You need to do this in addition to setting the input and output preferences. It should be listed under the mackie.

Hope this helps

is anyone having this issue where the midi clock sync from ableton through the RemoteSL DOUBLES the MIDI Clock signal so it outputs twice as fast as the source from ableton?

So weird. I don't understand how to adjust or fix it. Makes me think it isn't working.

Sweet, got it working. Don't know what I did, just kept fiddling. Something happened.

Thoughts so far:

Ableton automap works great for the inerface itself, ie. mixer, sends and all. However so far i've noticed when I change the controller behaviour from jump to pick-up, it has no effect, stays on jump. This is not good.
Also, tempo changes on the SL don't change the tempo in Live.
Program change works for some plug-ins (ex.fm7, reaktor, pro-53), but not for others (ex.absynth, blue)
I find instrument automap being confined to the eight endless encoders a bit useless personally. A better way would have been to be able to switch between ableton mixer or instrument control like in the Logic automap.
The encoders are sometimes way too slow. ex. sometimes the knob moves three clicks to every change of one value on many controls for instruments, instead of one click for every value change of one (like it should be)

It's too bad you don't get a corresponding name on the LCD for anything you midi learn on the knobs, like wise it would be cool if the LCD updated the names of the mixer channels to what you name them (instead of midi1, audio2 etc.)

Another thing is that instument templates don't really seem to work now. The LCD will temporarily display the template parameters, but will not usually control the instrument, or control the wrong parameters. And the LCD screen keeps going back to the ableton automap display, even though it isn't controlling those things anymore.

And I've got a problem with just one of my drum pads. Changing the sensitivity has no effect on the first pad. Ex. I put the sensitivity to full for all pads, and force needed to trigger all the other pads at 127 will only trigger the first pad at about 60-70, so I have to hit it much harder.

That's what I've discovered so far. Hopefully some of these are from my own errors.

cheers,

Rob

I dont think you set it right. The pickup jump thingy works for me, also the names and lots of other things you mention.

That one pad might be reversed. Press hold then release, if it is loud then it is wrongly wired. In edit mode you can see the values, so when it is 127 when you release it is reversed wiring.
Novation will be loosing a lot of money, shippments, repair costs ..

after reading the posts here (mainly to see if anyone has got the faders to work without jumping) I read about the pads problem. I hadn't really tested them yet so loaded up some drums and ehy presto - 3 dud pads. Aaarrrghh!!

Does anyone have a Sl with the pads wired correctly or is it a common problem with lots of units?

Damit!!!

I have reversed Pads on my unit! This sucks everyone should make sure you check this issue at first i didnt pay much attention to the pads. They are in a odd spot for drumming but i was planning on using them for triggering. i waited after my 30 days with sweetwater so they put me on the phone with Novation product specalist and will then have to send my unit to a repair specalist nearby.

Ableton just came out with Automap to damit oh well.

Take a look they said this was a common issue with the 1st batch of boards.

which dealer is that? can't find the original post.

i'm itching for an sl, though maybe i'd be better off waiting for the 2nd batch, without silly construction faults...

thanks, d

I bought it from my regular shop, they matched the B&H offer of 350 + 15 shipping

I got mine from these guys for 350 w/ free shipping.

The guy I talked to was really nice and he shipped it right away.

I'd buy local but the Guitar Center only gets b stock here.
