live and reason
live and reason
I'm having a weird problem, in live 2.1.2 when i try to select reason input i only get rebirth input (in OS9 and OSX?), even if i launch reason first and then try to switch the input on?!!! who's got a clue for this??
ReWire slaves and hosts.
I'm having other issues with Live and Reason but I will help you here.
For Live to "see" Reasons output it must be the "ReWire Host".
1. Start Live first.
2. Then Start Reason. (Rewire Slave should be lit green on Hardware Interface.
3. Reason devices (Malstrom Sub Rex etc.) must be connected directly to the Hardware Interface in Reason. (Think of these as ReWire Outputs)
Unless you want to use Reasons mixer and only have a stereo pair in Live.
4. In Live, select Reason as the Input type, and the correct output channel.
5. Activate the Mic or Monitor button in Live.
There it is. You should be hearing Reason sounds thru the Live mixer. When you are done, reverse the steps. Close Reason first, then Live.

Re: ReWire slaves and hosts.
I know all this, when i say that live doesn't see reason, what i mean is that it does not appear at all in the input type, all appears is rebirth input, live in...mikemidi wrote:I'm having other issues with Live and Reason but I will help you here.

I'm a Windows guy,but this how I'd do it on a Mac...find ALL Re Wire.dlls on your system.Delete them. Now,run your Reason installer again(without ununstalling Reason first)-the installer will just reinstall missing files(in this case, the ReWire.dll.That's what the Props recommend on a Windows system, and I'd assume it'd work the same in your case.Almost all ReWire hassles are caused by conflicting ReWire.dlls, and this cures that.

I ended up erasing the application too, leaving the the refills, and reinstalling, which worked fine. Next time I will only erase the rewire.dlls.
