Online Registration/serial number Issue

Well I dont know what section of the forum to post this in but i'll assume the "bugs" section is the most accurate.

I just bought myself a boxed copy of Live 5 from the my local music store Long & Mcquade on 3/11/06...came home and first thing i did was to go to ableton.com to register my serial number with them to get on this forum and get the Live Update............And to my suprise there was someone ALREADY registered wih my serial number in the registration field!!!

Now i've written an email to ableton suppot informing them of this issue that same day and am still waiting for a responce but was wondring if anyone else has had this issue while registering their product?

I have been able to register under my name and unlock and use my bought copy of Live so far without any problems but I am really hoping that this is just a bug with the website code as i would feel very pissed off if it turns out that somehow someone else managed to get ahold of my serial number or somehow generate my serial with a keygen.

Update: Well Ableton in now looking into the issue...just sent them a picture of my sales reciept and the serial number sticker on the inside of the cd sleeve........Wonder how somthing like this could happen

Pretty ballzy if someone registered with a generated serial heh

Was your copy still shrinkwrapped?

Yes it was...and it was locked in a display case....the person who registered the same serial # before me was from the states (i'm in canada)...actually heres the reg info that was in there before

I've only been able to find a "teejay" registered on the forum.....wonder if it's the same person?.

Not saying he is a crook but if it is the same person and he actually did buy his copy then that's an awfully big $$%@#% up on Abletons part.

(Still waiting for an answer)

Well Ableton was nice enough to give me a new serial and offered $40 discount on the operator synth which i have no use for (I pushed for and would much rather f had a free t-shirt

)....

no word on what the issue was however
