Lets see it for what it is a tragedy and that's it - has nothing to do with being American, Jewish or gentile - if this was the case for all american's I'd stay away from DJ DAN and Donald next time they play out - and if any Euro's think their going to see DJ SNEAK, Roger Sanchez or Jeff Mills without getting shot, think again - doh!
quit hating...
or better yet
If you don't want to be called a Negative Nancy stop it, unless you want everyone to call you negative Nancy from now on.
its people trying to say something is messed up in america.. nobody would bother saying anything if they didnt care...
see if the situation was say in palestine and it was a suicide bomber, people say 'theres something fucked up and fundamentally wrong with that person and that country and that race' ... but when it happens in america (all too often) people are like 'yeah well shit happens'
Adonis why U seeing it as America hating?? It's just a comment on cultural things that make it to easy for things like that to happen - and it never gets changed because so many people seem to like guns in the US - so it's a pretty simple conclusion to draw that if guns are easier to get the chances of psychos getting and using them goes up dramatically
And that crazy puritan attitude where kids can watch extreme violence but they cant see a naked body on TV
in Tasmania it happened a few years ago - a psycho walked into a tourist spot and shot 35 people with a whole bag of guns - straight away everyone went mad and banned them and now Tasmania has the strictest gun laws in Australia - I cant say that's the sole reason it hasnt happened since because things like that didnt tend to happen every day there anyway and it was probably a pretty rare thing to happen in a population of half a million, but at least we know it's not so easy for it to happen again because it's not as easy to get guns
point is psychos can exist anywhere and if they can just walk into a "guns and liquor" store and by a machine gun then it kind of increases the chances that they might buy one and shoot people with it - pretty simple really

Right, but it's my belief that this guy would have planted bombs, and blew the house up had he not access to guns. It was obviously premeditated, and guns or no guns, that means he willfully did it. People think that simply because guns are available it sparks the killing urge, I'm sure it doesn't help, but banning guns here in the USA definitely wouldn't prevent this from happening.forge wrote:point is psychos can exist anywhere and if they can just walk into a "guns and liquor" store and by a machine gun then it kind of increases the chances that they might buy one and shoot people with it - pretty simple really
No to mention the survivalists with huge surpluses of guns in Idaho....

The old lady brought up a good point - this guy might have been mental <-- like had a mental disorder
but you could see it coming - 28 year old man from Montana drives a big truck and has lots of ammo
Something happened at that party or soon there after that set this guy off
A girl friend, drugs, money something - very weird
I will admit that this is not shocking. It might be because I play alot of video games and am sort of desensitized to murders or it's just what you come to expect now-a-days - and 7 doesn't even seem like alot - I want real big numbers 50 or more than I'm like 'wow'
Not to be rude but it's just sort of the world we live in right now - we got serial killers, rapists of the worse kind, countries bombing other countries, mass genocide in Africa and I'm not sure if you gone downtown lately and seen the homeless / alcohol / drug problem
It's a fucked up world for sure - why Seattle always has to make the news with this kind of stuff I'll never know - Jeffrey Damer (I spell that right?) Gary Ridgeway and now this guy - it's in the Salmon!
I just want to know his motivation for this - that's what I'm curious about
I think I'll drive by the house today and see what's up - it's literally like 2 or 3 miles from my crib...hmmmm

Thank you for clarifying this, that's exactly right. In fact, the film didn't really give any answers at all (I thought)> But it helped dispel some myths like this one and then posed some more interesting questions.louZ wrote:Michael Moore's point was that guns weren't the problem, but the culture of fear and violence in the US was. He gave the example of Canada, where there's just as much guns per capita, but much less killings per capita.forge wrote:I know it's popular in these George W Bush times to rubbish Michael Moore, but "bowling for Columbine" really makes a good point when he goes to Detroit and then goes accross the river into Canada and they dont even lock their doors - he goes into the statistics of gun murders in the US and compares it with the rest of the world and that in itself should be pretty conclusivemike holiday wrote:maybe as we are all taking a moment to remember those lost, we should remember all the kids lost at columbine as well, not to mention the many similar senseless tragedies that seem to take place
if you're going to allow guns on the scale the US allows, you will get these things happening.

ONLY IN AMERICA DO WE SEE THIS VOLUME OF SHEER SENSELESS VIOLENCE WITH NO RHYME OR REASON TO IT (except in the gunman's twisted mind).
In IRAQ or PALESTINE/ISRAEL, AFRICA, etc., there are almost always (it seems) some political or extreme emotional motives to the violence, people are oppressed, they strike back at those they view as their oppressors, or vice versa, some party is trying to gain control of a region and they use violent force....or they practice genocide to clear out a regions population so they can assimilate the area and it's resources, etc... you get my point..
In USA there is NO APPARENT MOTIVE, no LOGIC (even I can understand the plight of the Palestinians) no reason. How many serial killers has the USA spawned????? HUNDREDS, maybe thousands.....
DAHMER, HENRY LEE LUCAS, ED GEIN, COLUMBINE, BERKOVITZ, ZODIAC, DUDE my mom is obsessed with serial killers, she has a LIBRARY of books about them....THERE ARE LIKE around 30-50 100 serial killers at large in USA right now that they know of....maybe more..!!!!!
You don't see this anywhere else in the world. There is always some motive, political usually, for mass murder. HERE IN USA PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE FOR FUN. EVen in my city, kids are killing other kids in front of their schools and at the school bus stop every couple days it seems. That is politically motivated, in a way (gang bullshit), but they are so young: 12-13-14-15-16- years old......that shit does not happen in other countries.....
USA IS FUKKED UP....

A true story, when i was hitch hiking out west when i was a teenager, i got picked up in CALI by a guy who tried to take me out into the desert and kill me, for no reason. I fell asleep in the passenger seat en route to L.A. , woke up off the highway in the middle of the desert and he had a knife and a CRAZY LOOK in his eyes.....True story. I made him wreck the van he was driving into a ditch, he hit his head off the wheel and i jumped out the door and ran away.........No shit.
made it to the highway ( i could see the lights; it was night time) and got picked up by a MEXICAN SKINHEAD NEO-NAZI no shit. I wasn't picky, I took the ride. He was actually a cool kid, very troubled, running drugs between the east and west coast in a MUSTANG with NO liscense, the brakes were barely working he had to hold the brake pedal up with a rope and let it go when he needed to use the brakes....( craziest thing is he was coming from about 20 miles outside of Pittsburgh near where I grew up!!!) I had just left Pittsburgh and went to VEGAS with a friend. Hated it. Spent exactly 0.5 days there.....dropped me off in Sun City orange county I took a bus from RIVERSIDE to L.a. then made it safely to my friends in CULVER CITY. my last hitch hiking adventure.....I was a crazy kid when I was young, yes....stupid, too....
why was I hitch hiking in the desert???? i went camping by myself.....I needed to clear my head and wanted soltitude.....but no car...stupid!!!!!!
anyways yeah this country is messed up, lots of predators, lots of victims who want revenge on the rest of society......

I've done some hitchhiking around Europe. It's cool. Never met a person I didn't trust, and never met a person I found out I had a reason to mistrust.
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

I rode an open boxcar on a freight train from Denver to Grand Junction (Colorado, from one side of the Rocky Mtns to the other), camped in the desert, hitchhiked back in the back of an open pickup of the geologist who picked both of us up. Beautiful but COLD. That trip could've gone MUCH worse, we didn't tell anyone where we went, I was in one of those moods.
Been to those tracks on bost sides of CO. Never had to jump it though. Beautiful place to be. I did hitchhike around the mountains in CO while snowboarding. Never had a problem.DeadlyKungFu wrote:I rode an open boxcar on a freight train from Denver to Grand Junction (Colorado, from one side of the Rocky Mtns to the other), camped in the desert, hitchhiked back in the back of an open pickup of the geologist who picked both of us up. Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

I've never hitched hiked - seems kind of dangerous
no one in this world is obligated by any means except their own to be nice to you. I've been pretty lucky to not get shot or molested or raped by another man or woman - I don't know why but it's just the way it is
i guess that makes me see things different then the rest of the world - but I live in the world like everyone else and have Directv like a few of you and watch some of the same news and read some of the same headlines
wow - the world is fucked up - who cares what the reason behind it is, it's just all fucked up
If I was a muslim in a muslim country I'd leave, move to America or Europe and drive a taxi cab. and hang out at my cousin's gas station.
If I grew up in communist china and didn't like it, I'd either escape and go somewhere else, study math and open a corner store that specialised in batteries (D mutha fucka D), cheap liquor and porno mags and dvd's.
If I was an African running from genocide, AIDS and starvation I'd do what the muslim did.
but I'm none of those people and it's so easy to say what you would do or what they should do...
I live in Capitalist America and today I'm going to keep working on some music, take the dogs to another dog park and play Halo and Splinter Cell (pandora tomorrow) - also try and get over this cold (again) - oh yeah I have to set up a myspace page for our Cosmic Force thing. I'm also going to watch last nights Soprano's again to see if there's something I missed. I have to pick my fiance up from the bus stop around 5 and I need to buy a new tip for my Ortofon. I'm going to drive by that house, I just have to see it I don't know why. Then I'm going to eat dinner and go to sleep - hopefully I will not be shot at, molested or raped.
If you guys want some localized 'ranting and raving' go over to the "Off-Topic" discussion on www.nwtekno.org
I think if more people actually saw an abortion they wouldn't think so badly about them.

I'm not hating on USA, lots of great stuff comes from here, namely jazz, blues, techno, house, hip-hop, the lightbulb, MACINTOSH, WINDOWS (please, no comments from the peanut gallery!!!!), the smallpox vaccine, mass-produced automobiles (wait, is that good???) the telephone, Google, the internet, MOOG synthesizers, etc. etc. etc. etc.............but it's a messed up place . I sometimes wish I lived in Europe, it seems much more chill and peaceful and people seem to get along better, and there seems like way less psychos there, maybe I'm wrong.

My theory is that the intensely competitive atmoshphere in the USA that catalyzes so many great inventions/innovations can be too much for some weaker-minded individuals and they get trampled in the stampede towards success and superficial beauty.....it's an extreme form of passive-aggressive behavior, they strike back at usually peacful non-threatening people or groups of people in imitation of the people who shit on their faces all through life.
The competitive spirit here really separates and isolates people, since there is only room for one "king" or "queen" on the throne. It's every man/woman for themself. That isolation is a very fertile breeding space for insanity, even in some of the most "successful" people, just look at our celebrities.....this guy was an outcast, a loser, a failure, a weak minded person driven insane by his loneliness and isolation and his lack of identity within any group of people.....
