err_ I agree the way Capitalism is set-up means someone is going to win and someone is going to loose
for evey person in power someone cannot have power
but the "Opportunity" is there to be top dawg - some places you don't even get s chance in the world to succeed unless you're born into some kind of empire or something
but I do love Capitalism because it create competition to be the best - may the best man win - touche (like the label) now not everyone plays fair, ok but 7 times out of 10 the better man will win - and it really depends on what you're competing in - if the game is already pretty dicey or shadey you're going to get shady charachters but if it's pure you'll get pure results -politics is not pure.
Myspace vs. Friendster - Friendster sucks but with out any competition it's all we'd have and we wouldn't know any different and go to the grave wondering what if
If you are on the losing side, the loser, the loner the 'rebel' well I'm sure you could think of something more constructive to do than shoot 7 people after a 'goa' rave in Seattle.
I'm going to that house in like half and hour - I'll take some digital photos and post 'em

seriously? Do you not acknowledge that the mere fact of actually having a gun can plant thoughts in people that might otherwise not be there?Machinesworking wrote:Right, but it's my belief that this guy would have planted bombs, and blew the house up had he not access to guns. It was obviously premeditated, and guns or no guns, that means he willfully did it. People think that simply because guns are available it sparks the killing urge, I'm sure it doesn't help, but banning guns here in the USA definitely wouldn't prevent this from happening.forge wrote:point is psychos can exist anywhere and if they can just walk into a "guns and liquor" store and by a machine gun then it kind of increases the chances that they might buy one and shoot people with it - pretty simple really
No to mention the survivalists with huge surpluses of guns in Idaho....
Remember that episode of the Simpsons when Homer got a gun and it sent him crazy with the power - started turning off the TV with it
I'm sure there are people who feel powerless in their lives who get a powerful feeling from having a gun and so it adds this little thought in the back of their mind "yeah well I could show you" - like having a super power or something - VERY different to going to all the trouble of getting and setting up explosives
besides this particular guy shot himself as soon as there was any sign of police which says to me it was more of a suicide mission and he just thought he'd take a few with him
if it was hard to obtain guns he may well have done it differently
it's pretty simple - if there there people will think about them, if they're not they wont
Hitched from the pyrenes down to barcelona, a trucker from the basque picked me up. He had poitin (moonshine for you americans) and good hash, I rolled some splifs for him and smoked some pipes for myself, he drove with no hands and we listened to bob marley and irish trad music (his choice...seems its pretty popular in the basque) , I told him my life story via a spanish dictionary, not only did he refuse to let me buy him lunch but he insisted on buying me lunch, and beers....gave me some hash for myself, which I lost, and he gave me more....I forgot my bob marley cd but I'm glad I did. That guy was a fuckin angel...I took a chance and hitched to a ropey psychedelic trance rave populated by even ropier french/spanish ketamine krusties, after 2 days enough was enough and I left before it finished (2 more days of non-stop dirge).....seriously, it was miraculous to get a lift from such a remote area and by such a kool guy.
on the flip side, I hitched from ennis to galway after midnight and outside of gort a van full of knackers (lawless violent criminals, for you americans and europeans) stopped and I had to run back to gort - with a paralysed right leg (at the time) ! Before I ran, they asked where I was going, I replied by asking them where they were going....when they wouldnt answer I knew it was time to leg it. Not that I'd ever willingly get in the back of a van populated by urine soaked reprobates.
hitching is a risky thing to do...but you can meet some really cool people, such as trainee cops and hash toting truckers. You just need to know when to leg it, and how to small-talk

Someone, in a political thread defended gun ownership and mentioned that he is willing to shoot a person, he's thought of it and feels he would do it, it's the right thing to do in a controntation. That's pretty sick if you ask me. Oh yeah, the dude lives in Florida where they recently legalised gun ownership in public.
Similar mentality to the a-hole in this story?

proves my point really - he's thought about it because it's actually a possibility in his world - I just cant see that same conversation happening in Australia or the UK because it's not something that exists in the worlds of most normal people so most of us would have ne reason to think about it - and all it takes is for someone like that to think about it and decide they're happy to shoot someone then lose the plot for some reason.DeadlyKungFu wrote:Someone, in a political thread defended gun ownership and mentioned that he is willing to shoot a person, he's thought of it and feels he would do it, it's the right thing to do in a controntation. I think they put Van Nuys in perspective perfectly in The Big Lebowski...when they only mentioned it in reference to towed cars.
I think you mean Sherman Oaks, Porno-central.
Homer Simpson...yeah...isnt that the show that portrayed pot as a psychedelic drug?
I seem to remember Homer cutting himself shaving, and rainbows pouring out of the cuts...
Yeah, the Simpsons. Good example...completely based in reality.

but I dont think it's a bad point, I'm sure it could have that affect on some people

and some flowers on the corner as a small memorial - notice the street sign shadow looks like a cross - not only am I a dj but a artsy Photog!

Now back to Pandora Tomorrow - I'm in Jakarta trying to break into the TV station, I'm also working on this jam for a friend of mine - will share soon!!!

Where do you think the concepts of vampires, and werewolves came from? People back then couldn't imagine that others would kill and mutilate for no reason so they made up creatures that would. People have been killing for no reason since the very beginning of civilization, ever since we voluntarily overpopulated little areas of this planet. The USA has the most for sure, but we definitely aren't the only place you see serial killers and mass murderers.err_fatale wrote:You don't see this anywhere else in the world. There is always some motive, political usually, for mass murder.
OK just to set the record straight, Jeffery Dahmer was from Wisconsin, Ted Bundy is Washington states other infamous serial killer, plus psycho sniper John Allen Muhammad....djadonis206 wrote:It's a fucked up world for sure - why Seattle always has to make the news with this kind of stuff I'll never know - Jeffrey Damer (I spell that right?) Gary Ridgeway and now this guy - it's in the Salmon!
