wow, best user song i have ever listened to that was posted on this site!
that is saying a lot, i have been a user for years. yeah it could a little more intellibility, but it is a great vocoder sound. im totally in love with this song, be sure to post the finished version and PM me on here and remind me. i dont even usually care for this kind of music, but the 80s vibe and the lyrics are SO GOOD. maybe i just get it, i am 28.

Re: thanks!
Some vocoders have a "sibillance" setting that lets thru just the tops for intelligibilty, so you might try laying up your clean signal with a massive lo-cut filter at 8-10k (to just let the tops thru) along side your vocoder signal.Fantismo wrote:

vocoded
it's not really vocoder, more like phasing but the early Aux 88 vocals are pretty cool. see "Aux mind" for example.
alternatively Comtron "what we sell" ep on the netherlands black label is a pretty deranged vocoded job.

Re: thanks..
it sucks to my ears because it sounds very flat on my speakers (hi-fi)Fantismo wrote:why does the kick drum suck?

and yupp great song and flat drums, kick. i agree.
try to fix it in the mix as much as you can, mastering is not there to "fix" stuff it's there to enhance what is there already to an absolut maximum (NOT just volume!, but the whole sonic spectrum!!). and i think as well it's well worth to spend a few bucks on propper mastering.
only because it's a linndrum sample doesn't mean that it has to sound good in the context of the other sounds of the track... sounds react together kinda like "chemicals" that is where you need to tweak, produce. the same sample might sound completely different used in a different context.i think its a linndrum sample
