decoupling MP3 and WAV files

Post by rupps » Mon Mar 27, 2006 10:19 am

Hi!

How can I absolutely de-couple MP3 files from a live project??? I mean, once I've imported a MP3 file that has been converted to WAV, and the set saved Self-Contained, I would like LIVE to stop bothering about the MP3 file. For me it is a big source of problems, seeing LIVE re-sampling the MP3 file always scares me because more than often some tweaking is lost.

Convert your mp3 to WAV before importing into Live?

Yes hehehe it's what I do rite now... But it is a bit tedious.... I would like to 'drag and drop' mp3 on the fly, even while LIVE is playing. LIVE should take care of that, after all he decodes the MP3 to WAV and stores it in the "decoding cache" folder .... If you save Self-contained, the MP3 file is used instead of the WAV version, which IMHO is more appropiated.
