grey file menus in 5.2b8
grey file menus in 5.2b8
hello ableton ppl
just a quick mail to let u know that the file menus in live 5.2b8 went grey on me last night! i thought this had been fixed in one of the previous betas...
specs:
laptop g4 867mhz / 640 RAM / OS X 10.3.9
here's what i did:
1. loaded live + started working on a new set
2. insert battery 2 in MIDI channel and started filling battery with samples
3. then i go to put some midi notes in the first clip of the battery midi track
4. i realise i cant switch to pen mode with shortcuts (apple + b)
5. also realise i cant use any other shortcut, almost like the keyboard becomes inactive...
6. i turn off fullscreen to access the menus and all items in all menus are greyed out (they look disabled)
7. i click on the finder desktop then switch back to Live then the menus and keyboard shortcuts are back!
i cant seem to reproduce it but maybe someone else can confirm...

it just happened again as i checked this forum!
i'm still not sure as to how to reproduce this yet.
i'm running live in fullscreen mode.
maybe it only happens once u first open the battery gui after loading the set.
doesnt seem to happen again after you click on the finder then switch back to live.
weird glitch!
will carry on testing and keep u posted.
cheers,
justin

i have found wot is causing it!
it only happens when i click on import in battery2 plugin. this brings up a window where you can navigate to find audio files... and also turns live's menus grey!
but its not too drastic cos all i have to do is click on desktop and then the menus are back again!

Hi McBoob,Sales Dude McBoob wrote:I had the same issue recently with 5.0.3 on OSX 10.4.2.
It happened to me in the middle of recording a long set with a live band. We took a short break and I tried to save the set and couldn't do so because the file menu was grey.
Did you have or run any particular plugin, with its GUI opened at that time ? Did it happen only once ?
Best,

I wasn't running any plug-ins. It was a pretty bare set. I was recording 4 mics. So, 4 tracks of audio. We took a break 15 minutes into it, so I had about 15 minutes worth of unsaved audio tracks when I tried to save it and the file menu was grey.
At the end of the session the file menu came back to life and I was able to save the 28 minutes long set.
Later the same night I was making a soundtrack for a short film and it happened again. I wasn't using any plugs. I was only using a few loops from my Prosessions library.
