Reason is a nice option, you have the virtual analog - subtractor, then the NNXT has some great virtuall analog libraries too. If your looking for wave/graintable madness youve got The maelstrom, one of the most unique ladies out there and one of my favorites too. Then you can combine them all too now.
Another vote for the imposcar, never heard a real Oscar, dont know if it sounds like one either, but dont really give a sh*t, thing is a monster. The fabfilter and U-He stuff is all quality too..OH, crystal is a great freebee, way different than anything ive ever heard.....If i think of any others ill edit this post

The sequencer is poo poo but the devices are great. NNXT and maelstrom. if you have reason see what kind of sounds you can coax out of these two, youll be surprised. Download Ill Waves Here. then Try dumping some of these single cycle waveforms into NNXT and see what you come up with. If thats not enough go hereand get some more. You can pretty much make some VA synthesis from scratch.Digi V wrote:i do not like reason all that much.
the synths are decent though.

another vote for the imposcar
and reaktor is a must have
im forgeting what it is called but there is a free VSTI that has the supersaw type
waveforms. Sorry I cant remember.
As for replacing your nordlead I cant seem to find one that is pure VST
that stacks up to mine.

Microwave Xt - Komplexer or Kubik (both currently PC though) you could easily get Reaktor ensembles that would fit the bill no problems.
Though something like ZEBRA 2 would be more than up too snuff by a long shot IMHO.
Try the demo it's freakin' amazing.
Nordlead - DiscoDSP Discovery (even loads NordLead patches)
Virus - Virasyn Tera
Roland JP - once again Reaktor / Tera
So in short for Mac -
Tera
Discovery
Zebra 2
Reaktor
Automat
I'd also look at Dimension Pro also if I where you (way more than a sample playback device by a country mile).
Infact Zebra2 / Tera / Reaktor / Automat / Crystal / DimensionPro would pretty much cover all your needs IMHO for what it's worth.
As a PC user I use Reaktor / Dimension Pro / Reason 3 / Kubik / Wusik + Freeware - Ugo's Rez,Motion,StringTheory,Texture and TriangleII.
Add Impulse & Simpler to that lot and I'm covered for all my sonic needs .
Though I have an excellent Pro MicrowaveXt/Q refill which when patched up with Reason's Combinator easily covers most of the Waldorf territory when combined with Kubik.
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....
