record enable and record disable midi command?

Post by Guest » Mon Oct 20, 2003 4:41 pm

How come once I trgiger the record enable button for a track I can't disable it with the same midi command. I'm using a FCb1010 foot controller to loop my guitar. I want to be able to hit a pedal on my FCB1010 to record enable a track and hit the same foot pedal again to take the track out of record mode. Right now I have to use the mouse to get a track out of record mode once it's been enabled. Doesn't anybody else see how inconvient this method is. When i change scenes sometimes I don't want to record anthing but I for get I have a track record enabled and I end up recording as soon as I change scene. Which sucks. Any thoughts?

When mapping a controller to a switch (like the Track Arm switch), Live interprets incoming controller values greater 64 as ON and values below that as OFF. Unfortunately, there is no way to make it respond differently.

Anyhow, I what you desire is not much easier to achieve by assigning the foot pedal to the slot you want to record into. Then, the first press of the pedal would start the recording and the second ends it (and starts playback). Using the relative Session View navigation, you can also do this for consecutive clips without mousing. Please refer to the "Live Audio Recording" section in the manual, and write back might you require further assistance.

you need to make your patches on the 1010 that you wish have to turn buttons on and off in Live MIDI note on/off messages, not control change, etc. By having the 1010 send out midi note on/off messages (represented by pedal "10" in FCB patch programming mode), you can toggle things on and off. Control change midi messages can only turn something on, or turn something off (unlees you use a knob OR you fcb exp pedals--then you can sweep to turn on/off). should work, check it out,
