OT. whats the deal with myspace?

Post by buckman » Sun Apr 02, 2006 6:03 pm

Hi there a bit off topic but whats the deal with myspace.com?

Can people download your music for free? or can they only listen to it?

Im just thinking of piracy/file sharing etc? want to sign up

Thanks

Myspace is tight - you have the option of letting people download your music or you can opt for them not to (I don't have the download option checked)

it's a free space for you to introduce yourself to the world basically

It also puts you closer to labels, dj's etc

Keeps me in contact with old friends and sometimes I make new ones

Personally I think Myspace is pretty cool - if you know how to work it you can get gigs and what-not through Myspace

hook it up - it can't hurt, know what I'm saying

1 thing I will say putting music on the net means it can be copied however you try and stop them................

With an app like Audio Hijack you can record in realtime the audio from any app including mozilla and safari etc etc ................

I know of people who have recorded whole albums from BLEEP.COM using this method.

i have three songs on there, just 2 min clips from edits and remixes ive done, 128kbps mp3s, no one's gonna try to steal them, just having a myspace is becoming a protocol for DJs

that is seriously ghetto and hilarious. would be rather irritating to have to click every thirty seconds to keep the song going. sounds like something someone from Sunnyvale would attempt. Is your friends name j roc?

I dont get why strangers want to add you, without so much as messaging you or making a comment on your profile.....and then you take a look at their profile before declining and you see all these mindless comments 'thanx 4 da add!' ....like hundreds of them.... whats up with that ? I dont get it. and I see that kind of thing more often then not on myspace ....other than that, its a good way to host 4 tracks and use it as a kind of internet-calling card......just dont get sucked into the whole myspace way of life, I think it sucks anyways....unless someone can make sense of it for me

It's owned by Rupert Murdoch. That puts me off a lot.

Best thing I've seen on myspace is Ishkur's page (http://www.myspace.com/_ishkur) where people send him the worst of the worst. There is no such thing as absolute zero on the temperature scale of bad taste and myspace proves it. Good for laughs!

Ain't that the truth...

And if your a X-Files/Conspiracy/they're watchin us type, like myself, you'll quickly pickup on the fact that said owner is using and selling all the personal info to data collection agencies, marketing firms, and BIG BROTHER himself.

Check out the "bulletins" it's funny how there's always a few really personal questions on them...i.e. Date of birth, city of birth,do own a gun, favorite cookie?? :?

I have one up but i don't put anything too personal on it........

Gotta go i think someone's watching me or at least that's what came through on the scanner

Create a band page - no personal information goes up on that and those bulletins you can ignore - no need to answer that shit

All the ad's and what not pay the billls so we can have free websites connected to other folks

I don't think it's a flesh factory - the only friend request I get are from dudes - dj's and producers alike - all my girl friends are friends

Myspace is cool - you just have to keep it real

I don't even know or care who rupert murdock is - he owns FOX News which - the right wing spewing coporate agenga media station connected to FOX Television the one that airs the Simpsons and Family Guy (I hate this show - a new episode of South Park exploits it this week) and the ground breaking show the X-Files?

Who cares - good for him

Myspace is great for music. It helps me sort out what's worth listening to and what isn't.

Everything on myspace isn't.

If you have have a profile there you're obviously so fucking lame it's hard to convey. No good will come from putting you music on sites like myspace. It only make it look cheap, nasty, ill-conceived and pish. No one will respect you music there, least of all you.

I get emailed about 100 demos a week with myspace shit. Every one is bullshit. I don't check them any more.

"Hey!! I'm DJ Scuzzy!!! Hear my bangin' techno choon on myspace!!! Comes with my pal's remix!!!!! Every sound straight from a sample library!!!!!"

Fuck off.
