WARPING PROBLEM! Please help!

Post by ego » Wed Apr 05, 2006 8:44 pm

I have this main problem in ableton with warping. I warp the
track, push save button etc. in result i have *.asd file.
And its ok, the track plays well. But then, when i clean cache,
delete all wav's etc. and try to insert the same track (not touched
mp3, that has his *.asd file) - the warp markers are always not in same
place. i need to rewarp the track. Or other example - i warp tracks home. burn mp3+asd files into cd, load the tracks and asd on other pc - the markers are not in same place, i need to rewarp again.
Or one more thing. I have warped track. Im trying insert the
track into vertical mode = from horizontal mode ||| and the track
needs to be warped, becouse it doesnt show ANY markers on it. I need to
push warp button and i see track with no markers. Why is that?

Waiting for your help.
Cheers,

I've noticed that also...it seems that all the warps get saved into the projects. also, if you split an audio file and rearrange it, it creates a new clip of that file with it's own warp markers. this took me a while to get used to while switching from acid to ableton live.

Does this problem means, that its impossible to move warped music inclusive asd file on other mashine without rewarping? Thats not good.. :\
Or even on the same mashine. Music and asd files are in one dir, clean all cache, insert the same track and the markers will be in wrong places.
Maybe the setting is playing some role:
unwarped one shot, auto, etc ?
Maybe this setting has to do something with it? :)

i havent tried using self contained sets, perhaps that is a sollution, but i don't know. Also, if you warp the track in the first view (not the arrangement view) you can drag it to your library and it will retain all of the warps...not sure how you would transport that though.

i'm still sour about losing all the warps and loops in my mix for some odd reason.

Hello,

Just to clarify things here: the way to save your warp markers, besides the fact that they are saved with the session, is to hit the "save" button in the clip view. That will update the asd file that is sitting with the audio file on you hard drive, and if you drag the file to a new session, the warp and clip settings will be the same.

Then if you need to move your files to another location on your computer, you've got to move both the audio file and its corresponding asd file. An easy way to do it is to use the Live browser, cause there you just see the audio file, and when you move it, it moves the asd file automatically with it.

Hope that helps,

Kind regards,
