Auditioning of samples
I'm actually getting started in collecting allot of sample cd's.. was wondering what everyone uses(or what people go through) to audition samples to quickly choose which ones they like and move them into seperated files... is there a program like that anywhere?
There are quite a lot of different formats for sampling CDs.
1. Standard audio CDs - you have to grab the files, e.g. with Wavelab, and they play on any hifi CD player
2. WAV files CDs.... obvious, prelisten and drag&drop
3. And there are sampler-specific ones, often with mapped keyboards, e.g. spectrasonics. If they are AKAI format, you can pick them up in EXS24, for example and take them from whatever directory you saved them in, if they are other formats such as EMU, you need the appropriate sampler, although I believe there are programs that can read these. Opened in the Explorer/Finder, no contents will be displayed.

hmm.. after searching the web for about half a day, i found what i was looking for... its called AuditionIt! .. it automatically calls up samples plays them in order and you can select the ones you keep just by tapping the space bar.. its soo much easier than the old way of listening to wavs on real audio(or any wave player out there)... i ended up going thru about 1500 samples in a span of an hour... neat...
