Problems with all my vst plugins in Live 5.2

Post by TinNikonen » Mon Apr 10, 2006 10:10 am

Hi,

I've just upgraded live to 5.2 on my MacBook Pro and I have a big problem... The vst plugins I used with the 5.0.3 don't work anymore and most of all are not seen by Live.
Do I have to remove my old 5.0.3 folder to fix the problem ? Actually to keep it is the only way for me to continue to use my synths...
I hope someone has a solution for that !
Oops I forgot something : the native apple effect plugins (AU) are perfectly recognized !

Thank you (and excuse my english!)

The plugins you used on 5.0.3 (and your previous mac) wont work on the macbook.
You need a universal binary for those plugins.

But they still work on the macbook with live 5.0.3... A bit strange isn't it ?
For example, I use Carbon Reaktor session one (a free synth plugin delivered with a french magazine) with live 5.0.3 and also in standalone on my macbook... It works perfectly... It just doesn't work in 5.2... Arg...

ehm. Let me see if i can explain this.

5.03 and all the plugins run under Rosetta. Which emulates the PPC's (pre-intel macs)

5.2 is a version built to run on the new intel macs. All your plugins need to be universal binary's too. In order to get them to work.

It's the downside of being an early adapter of a macbook pro.
Over the next few months, most of the plugins you use will be compatible.

There are already some compatible. Check on audiosites like KVR and Macmusic for more info on these plugins.

And go to www.alphakanal.de and download automat 0.3.9 UB :D

Cheers

Hi,

are you aware of any problems in 5.2 with regard to Universal VST plug-ins? (Not AUs.)

I've been updating my plug-ins to UBs and on my MacBook Pro Live 5.2 won't see my UB VSTs, though other UB applications do see them.

5.2 seems to work fine with my UB AUs.

cheers,
os.
