Is Ableton confusing updates (5.2 to 5.3) with upgrades (5.2 to 6.0)?

Updates not Upgrades

Post by beateater » Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:31 pm

Is it just me or does anybody else get the feeling that these 'version' upgrades are happening a little too frequently?
I mean, you buy Live, get one or to improvements in the app then they change the version number and you've got to fork out more money.
How long was 5 out for Christ's sake and now there talking about 6.
I feel that if you pay to license the program you deserve to have the cutting edge version of it for a bit longer than 6 months.
What happened to .3 .4 .5 .6 .7 ????
I suspect that the term upgrade is being used instead of update so Ableton can maximise profits at the expense of customer support. This is a only suspicion, there may be good justification for it.
I know there's a business to run but other apps seem to supply a lot more in the way of udates before an 'update' is paid for.

What do think?
