BCF2000 and Live always losing connection
BCF2000 and Live always losing connection
I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this problem.
I use a BCF in mackie mode. Currently i am bringing in my Oxy8 to the midi input on the BCF, which is connected by USB. It's set to mode U-3. The USB is going into one of the motherboard ports, with a 5ft extension cable.
From time to time, my BCF and Live lose contact with each other. These episodes can happen anywhere from a few hours apart to several days apart. This has never happened while I'm actually using the computer. I'll walk away for a while and when I come back, poof, it ain't working anymore. There is no screensaver or power saving happening.
The fix is to power cycle the BCF _and_ to either restart Live or turn off the Mackie remote in preferences, then reselect Mackie for the BCF.
This is annoying. Until a few days ago, I thought that restarting Live was necessary, which was even more of a pain because I'm always rewired to Reason, which meant shutting down both programs.
At one point the BCF was on a hub with my mouse. Taking it straight into the motherboard has not helped. Switching it to another USB port has not helped. Reinstalling the drivers has not helped. I tried using normal MIDI cords on the BCF but was unable to get it working. I may try one more time to do that.

I just went into the device manager and for each USB Root Hub, unchecked "allow the computer to turn off power blah blah"
The BCF has it's own power cord though. I keep hoping the latest little tweak will cure this! And it never does
Since it's never happened to me when I'm actually using it, it DOES make sense that it could be some sort of power-saving thing.
