New Guy with Rookie Questions

I got live with the M box. I havent yet set up my protools because the box didnt include my serial number but I installed my Abelton. When I open the sucker it says the audio engine is offf. I go into the preferences and to the audio tab and I have no options for an audio engine. Is this a function of the digidesign live version or is there soemthign else i need to switch to recognize an audio engine.
