Live 5 and Behringer BCF 2000

Post by droppedbeat » Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:20 pm

Hello all...I am using the BCF 2000 B-Control fader with Live 5, and am having a few issues with it. When I enter MIDI map mode, select on screen, say Ch 1 vol fader, then move the controller I want to program, it recoginizes it, says it's mapped and I select absolute controller message. Then when I try to move the controller fader after exiting MIDI map mode, the on screen fader moves around very quickly and jerky, and then goes back to the very bottom of the fader...not where the fader on the controller is at. I have the preferences set up for input and output with Track and Remote in the ON position, but am still having this problem. Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that you move the fader through its complete full scale motion before exiting the Midi Map Mode. I think Ableton reads the values coming in to determine if your fader goes between 0-127 or some other value.

put the BCF 2000 into Mackie mode by turning it off......hold down the button under rotory #2.....turn it on and when you see the lcd display change to 'nc c' let the button go quickly.....don't hold it til it goes to 'global'

when you start live, turn off the remote and other buttons for the BCF and down at the bottom it should say......
control surface input output

pick....

Mackie control BCF2000 BCF2000

you should now be running in full automatic Mackie mode.....when you can, download the BCF-View.exe....it is a onscreen window to interface between Live and the BCF so that you can see what you are doing....

In Bcf mode you also have instant acces to the plugin fx and instruments

YES EVEN AFTERMARKET PLUGINS AND FX (like NI Intakt)

whenyou are on a selected channel, hit the learn button and in the BCF-view, you will see a listing of all fx and instruments in that channel and the corrasponding knobs will light (just in case you did not notice the knobs also push in and function as buttons) push in the knob of the fx or instrument you want to control and now you will see all the controls inside the fx/instrument labled for you.....control them.

The Impulse has a long list of controls because it has every control for every pad listed.......the store and the exit button scroll up and down the list

There is so much more.....

Also find and download the overlay

I tried that, but no luck...the fader on the screen and the fader on the controller don't correspond after movement...! :?

Turn those off....you have to use the ones at the bottom. re-read what i put above......your setup is wrong...also make sure your drivers are up to date.

that came off a llittle agressive when I read it back to myself, it wasn't said that way.
let me know if it works with the changes.

yeah, thanks that works...I think I wrote that last reply before yours posted...I was still talking about the first reply I received. I have got it working now in Mackie mode...thank you so much!!! Where did you find this out? It's not in the manual. I heard that it was possible to do this, but I wasn't sure how.

I just tried this, the problem is that I'm on a mac and can't see what it's doing at all - IE what the control options are.

Where can you find this BCF-View? I have the controller working in Mackie mode, but am having trouble figuring out how to assign the controls to anything other than what is by default, i.e. vol fader, pan, and track on/off. How do you set this up to control other parameters like the effects, like auto filter, reverb, compression, etc?
I could not find any software downloads on the Behringer website...anyone else able to?
