MIDI controller problems

Post by spadgham » Sat Apr 15, 2006 4:21 am

Hi there,

I am having some problems using a MIDI controller to DJ with Ableton Live 5. I have the following setup:

ASUS W3N Laptop with 1.6ghz Pentium M and 512MB RAM
Windows XP Professional SP2
M-Audio Firewire Audiophile Interface connected to a 4 pin non-powered IEEE 1394 port
Ableton Live 5.2
Faderfox DJ2 MIDI controller

I do not get any response in Ableton on the Sync or Remote indicators when I press a button or move a fader on the DJ2. The only indicator that lights up is the Track indicator in the top right of the screen. All three MIIDI options are ON in the MIDI/Sync preferences tab for both input and output Firewire devices. I am at a loss as to what to do. Everything worked fine until I upgraded the Firewire driver from the included 5.10.0.5022 to the current 5.10.0.5036. However, I have since rolled back the driver and tried the controller and Firewire device on another installation of Ableton and I get the same dud results.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me out. I've not had the DJ2 and Audiophile device for very long and it is very frustrating not being able to play with these toys right now!! Many thanks.

Cheers, Simon

i don't think you should have all those options selected. try ONLY the input used on the faderfox set to "remote", and nothing else. see what you get
