yeah - there's something going on because I could run all that plus loads of external VSTs and VSTis - it's a matter of course for me to have several waves plugs + either Operators and/or NI Komplete synths, maybe even Antares filter (a CPU beast) all on my clunky old Athlon 2200. Your P4 3.6 should eat mine alive but I could easily do what you said there

there's a problem somewhere for sure

Should add - operator is quite juicy too

and delay compensation adds a good 10% to mine sometimes

complex has been mentioned, although I can usually get away with a few there too

also - your latency?

I find it's normal practice to change my latency according to what I'm doing - it's a constant trade off between low latency and High CPU overhead - if I'm asking alot of the machine then I'll up it to 1024, but If I want low latency I'll go down to 256 - or even 128 or 64 if I'm doing something like guitar rig - but I can do hardly anything else when it's that low

the thing is because its new theres no programs on it. its not connected to the net, so no internet protection. the only things on it live, soundforge, stylus rmx and some other plugs. so im a bit pissed off to say the least.

yeah that's why I'm really interested if HT works - despite what Alex said (not that I am doubting the Almighty Alex's words! )

But I just think it has to be something like that - what is your buffer?

Also, have you tried another sound card? Download Asio4all if you havent got it and give it a try, it's usually got great latency on your in built card - just to rule out the drivers or FW/USB bus or whatever

im using a presonus firepod. the buffer size is 793 samples. the latency is 45ms. im not recording, just playing back. the ht on or off didnt make much difference.
