Program Change to Vst-Plugin causes delay and freeze (5.2)

Post by Pasha » Mon Apr 17, 2006 6:52 pm

Hi I'm on to Live 5.2.

To reproduce :

Go to http://www.sampletank.com/Main.html?prod_ST_XL
Download VST and sounds named HQ Free Piano and 73 Piano.
Using the Program Change button on the VST Plugin create a simple Program change Map : assign 1 to HQ Free Piano and 2 to 73 Piano.
Record a clip an easy one, a chord progression or a copuple of notes, it makes no difference.
Change the Program Change number on the Clip.
You will notice a slight delay (if BPM=120 you will find out that bar 1 will not play) until you will hear the correct sound play.
If you repeat this more than 4 times, any moment is good to have Live 5.2 to freeze with no sound coming out.
This does not happen using external MIDI gear.

I understand that VST-Plugin needs time to load the sample but the two should communicate when everybody's ready, and freeze should never occur.
Mac Studio M1
Live 12 Suite,Zebra ,Valhalla Plugins, MIDI Guitar (2+3),Guitar, Bass, VG99, GP10, JV1010 and some controllers

Hi Pasha,
no, no, guitar rig2 is absolutely brilliant, it's just that it freezes Live5 when you change presets, not all presets, but when you want to change you'd better save your work before for there's always a risk.
If you want to check all the different presets in guitar rig, then for sure at some point you'll have to hard reboot.
And yet it says in the sticky VST status on this forum that's it's been fixed since guitar rig 1.2.
I haven't tried it in another app, so I don't know if it's Live or guitar Rig that has a problem though

Ok Chris,
Sorry I did not understand your point.
What do you think about AmpliTube (Ik Multimedia). If Guitar Rig (appears to be supported - at least exists in the VST Sticky) and has such problems, then I assume VST Plug-in still have issues with Live 5.2, then it does not matter which brand I buy....

don't apologize, I wasn't very clear !
I haven't tried AmpliTube, but I can confirm that some VSTs have issues. Who's the culprit I don't know. they work in other app so the first thought is that it's Live, but I'm not a programmer
