am having some problems recording midi data from the microtonic pattern sequencer:
jamin with som patterns, route it and record it to a spare MIDI track.
1) i get all my pattern notes in the recording but they are slightly out of sync.
2) the MIDI note off msg seems to be legato (it holds the note til the next drum hit).
3) and finally where i have some quite fast flams (drum rolls) it seems to drop out drum hits.
this happened whilst i was recording some hi hats with flams at the end of the bar, the bass kick would occasionally go missing on the 1st beat.
anyone else having this?
problems with microtonic VST
Couldn't you just export the pattern as a midi file. Drag that into Live, through it on the track that has Microtonic on it, and turn off Microtonic's sequencer. I know it's not a perfect solution but it works. Also, I've changed the notes on my Microtonic to corespond with the ones Impulse uses. That way I can "step sequence" in Microtonic export as a midi file, and use the results in impulse. I just made a live clip of my Microtonic set-up and use that when ever I want to load it.
yep, am aware i can export patterns as MIDI files then import them.
its not ideal for what i'm after, but i guess it'll have to do!
i just wandered if it was just my setup which was havin problems?
G4 867 / 640 ram / OSX 10.3.9 / live 5.2 / microtonic v2.01
i seem to remember trying this with live 4.14 a while back and havin the same problem. not sure if the issue is with microtonic or live...
cheers for the suggestion

Hi justin,
recently we found a sync issue in Live when recording midi to tracks with no instrument and no output connected. Do the problems persist when you add an instrument (say, an empty simpler) to the track you are recording to?
Regards, Andreas
