Dual Core/Procesor working in LIVE5?

Post by Vitek » Wed Apr 19, 2006 11:35 am

Hello.
I wonder if Live 5 is able to work using Dual CORE or DUAL PROCESORS (quad technology) systems... And if it´s not, any new about Live 6 doing it?
Thanks a lot.

Live 5 does not support multicore architectures yet, but Live 6 (due in the Summer) will do:

From Ableton Press release at NAMM, Jan2006:

"Live 6, scheduled for release in Q3, will bring—among other features yet to be disclosed—support for multicore/multiprocessor architectures, to the benefit of both Windows and Mac OS users. This feature will bring users of Intel Core Duo-equipped Macs another large increase in audio performance, and Windows users will be able to fully exploit the speedup potential of the various available multicore/multiprocessor hardware solutions the market offers."

I didn't mind answering though in all fairness - it's only his second post after all  . And he may well be new to forums in general, as well as possibly not being a native english speaker...
