Well of course that would make sense :D, but just because your software is great (which it is), doesn't necessarilly mean that I will have less grief than if I bought the bcf, which apparently some software designed for it by the manufacturer. It really amazes me that this software is not made for both! I guess I'm really sort of confused by this, and it makes me reluctant to by from a company that confuses me!

And let me tell ya, that fcb1010 really confused me!

Edit: I just don't have time to be confused right now. If I buy another controller right now it is specifically to help with a very midi-control-intensive set. There is so much other fieldwork, editing, and prep-work that I would only get this if it wasn't in the way!

BCR. Honestly, no offence but it's behringer. Anyone trust them to make motorized faders that don't break?

Infinite rotary encoders = much less to go wrong.

the only thing that would bend me towards the BCF is all the emulation modes (HUI, Mackie, Logic Control etc) which don't seem to be availiable on the BCR.

Ah, but third party individuals are coming up with kick-ass MCE's. Still would love to try it in Logic....um, until I get it.

I just bought the bcf2000 for 155 usd including shipping. If I don't get rightsized next week, I will consider getting the bcr in the future. In the meantime, I can consider selling my tascam fw1884 if the movable faders on the bcf2000 are good enough for what I need.

I think it's not really a dilemma, because they are meant for different uses... The BCF's faders make it really confy for mapping mixer functions, but where do you map all the effects? On the other hand the BCR has loads of knobs for your mapping pleasure... You can assign to them everything you use in an average set and still have knobs left... As for the BCD, it was the natural conclusion of the series... I am not seriously into DJing though, although I have a template for DJing with the BCR...
If you prefer convenience, take the BCF, but if you don't mind complexity and want more knobs for your money, the BCR is your mama...
I own a BCR and I am a satisfied customer... Don't forget to update both driver AND firmware before jumping to any conclusions....

Nice post man. This would have swayed my decision certainly. In the meantime, I will be more comfortable having some extra flying faders around, and adjusting to these four banks of intelligently lit knobs.

I think that for my immediate purposes the the sl 25's automap should take away a need for too many more knobs. The bcf 2000 should work well as a mixer, as the novation's sliders are not automated, and are thus unreliable to me in a live setting (that and some recent reports have it that the mixing mode has some unfortunate jumping in it's controls.)

Theoretically, now that I have freed up my microkontrol, I could run it in native mode with logic and get some excellent results. This does not strike me as a realistic alternative for the lesser-priced reason (especially since my upcoming project is going to be entirely sampler/drum machine based) as logic is so very unreliable in realtime, imo,(read as: crash, crash crash) but the distributed processing will be appreciated.

Wow. It's beginning to look like I have enough gear! Though a Lemur or two would always be nice :roll:
