Bjork - Vespertine
Radiohead - Kid A
Radiohead - Amnesiac
DJ Shadow - In Tune and On Time
Fugazi - The Argument
Stephen Malkmus - Stephen Malkmus
Faithless - Outrospective

Kudos to the guy who said Bitches Brew earlier. That's one mighty fine album - it certainly seperates the musically minded from the hacks! (you can tell that they were on some A-grade something when they made that album :))

whole albums is tough! with me everything gets archived and only the strong tracks survive. EG : From Peace Orchestra Reset only the Chateau Flight remix of 'who am I' and a couple of others get a play - but it's worth the cash for those few.
Anyway ...

Jaga Jazzist - a livingroom hush
Eno and Schwalm - drawn from life
Amon Tobin - erm, can I have 3 here? Ok the last 3 Tobins then
Tipper - Surrounded (on DVDa)
The Hilliard Ensemble - Perotin ( weird 11th Century harmonic monks, but released recent so it's in!)
Radiohead - hail to the thief

that last one makes me terminally un-cool with all my mates, but still it grew on me until I had to buy it. So there.

SAT Stoichismo - Mah 2

supposedly made all from morse code sounds.
Done back in 1985, but fuck me if it aint the craziest shit I've ever heard.
It says not to consider context, but crikey!!
It's like a bio-organic wall of noise pumeling every aural receptor you might have
(including bones).
All from fuckin morse code too.

..

I'm going to have to think about this for a couple weeks...

But I can say with confidence that Bjork's Vespertine will definitely be on the list. Vespertine will probably be on my top 5 of all time, but it's going to take me another 50 years to compile that list.

Everytime I listen to Vespertine I'm astounded. The level and depth of the beauty is sooooooooo immense.... :!:

How so (just curious)? I'd say it's not as creative as the previous two, but still I really like about half of it.

they all tend to dislike Radiohead in general due to some kind of techno snobbery, they perceive Radiohead as a posh-boy student 'alternative' band who bought a load of Aphex twin records.
Their tastes tend to the traditional DJ fare, from trance through trip-hop to ambient. So there you go. rediculous but it amuses me to slip radiohead tunes onto them when they least expect it.

hail to the thief I prefer over the previous two (though they are good) because I prefer 'tunes' over 'glitch', the other two covered ground that was already pretty well covered by other people in my opinion.

I don't know, man, Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army? -- that's some pretty strong, unique songwriting...

The National Anthem?
Morning Bell?
Optimistic?
Ok I could practically list every song on both albums. Kid A took some real listening before it clicked. When it clicked, I realised it was a masterpiece. There are only a handful of albums I am willing to say that about, and Kid A is one of them.

P.S. your friends should get with the program! Get them hella stoned and get them to listen to Kid A or Amnesiac while they're lying in bed, then ask them if they like it.

Top 5 in the last 5 years

hmmmm...

This picture disc single (One side is Voodoamat and the other is Thomas Schumacher) I don't know what it's title it but it's the heat - very latin tribal ethnic but it has this monster bassline that builds and builds and builds and then just explodes - WOW!

That DJ Preach on Intec that took the world by storm - incredible! WOW

A white label I have it just has the words CONTRA MAO on it - I accidentally wrote this coke dealers number on it - got it for like $5 but it really is the biggest record I own

Renato Cohen vs Carl Cox - JUST KICK! <--my girl loves this record

The best of E-40

I don't really buy albums - I buy mix cd's and Chemical Brothers stuff but I'm not very hip to what's cool and what's not - I only listen to E-40 and Techno.
