piano sounds?!

Hi... I am very new to ableton. I have been djing for sometime now and I am trying to make the switch from turn tables to electronic deejaying.

Anyway, I have some sort of a strange issue. When I open up ableton I hear some random piano sounds. When I hit certain buttons (like play) I get a piano sound that accompanies it.... Is this normal?
When I first installed ableton I did not have this prolem. I just installed a new sound card. Could this be the problem?

That sounds like you have a midi track tied to the midi bank built into your soundcard. Make sure that you signal routing and I/O selections in your preferences are correct.

I know this tread is over ten years old but it's the only one i found and it helped. For me it worked to go to preferences > midi > then i put master control as control surface and for input and output i put my scarlett.

Had Output set to Microsoft WaveTable Synth? whatever that is. lol
