Live 6 And Duo Performance

Post by plain » Wed Apr 19, 2006 8:16 pm

Does anyone know if the Duo core on the mac is suppposed to outperform any pc duo core chip? Im asking if Ableton will develop Live 6 more for the Mac duo core chip.

Thanks

I am a computer tech during the day, and I talked to an intel rep after he gave a presentation of the new core line at a tech conference. It is IDENTICAL to the pc chips, there is not one thing different.

the only difference is the third party bits and pieces they use.
like the sigmatel audio on the macbook is mac only (so far
the drivers for windows _almost_ work) etc.

windows and osx run the same on the core duo..
i've boot camped my macbook and tried it.

live 5.2 runs about the same in either os

ok, but can't you factor in the stabilty of the mac os compared to xp?

I doubt their would be any difference IMHO.
A well tweaked Xp system is easily as stable as any user of both platforms here will pretty much confirm.
Considering they're both using the same chipsets more or less I doubt there would be any significant difference.
Especially if using one of the new IBM/Lenovo dual core laptops which use incredibly high quality components.
I don't use a Mac (at the moment) .
My next PC (as in personal computer) will be a 20" iMac seeing as you can run both OSX and XP on the same system (though I'll be keeping my Toshiba Notebook).
I have friends who use Mac's exclusively and my system is definately no more or no less problematic in day to day operation than theirs.
Once again it boils down too which OS you're more comfortable with more than any other issue.
Besides which there are a few apps for Mac I cannot get for PC.
Namely Gleetchplugs The Lab and Metasynth which would compliment what I have on PC nicely with LIVE.
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

Fax,

Why are we always in the same boat? We have near identical configs for PC, and this summer I plan to get the 20" iMac as well....and logic...

What is up with that?

If I had known all of this when I was in Australia 3 years ago, I would have looked you up..

Cheers,

My PC laptop, running XP Pro, has crashed maybe twice in the last year. Where's the debate?
