Play a track, sometimes comes in right away or a bar later

Post by singled5678 » Mon Apr 24, 2006 8:05 am

Hi Guys

When I am Djing with live I notoce that when I hit play on a track it sometimes comes in right away or a bar later.

This tends to vary between tracks during my mix and is quite confusing when it comes to lining up the mix.

Do you know why this happens and how I can make it so that it either comes in right away for each track or a bar later for each track?

best regards

Darren

Set the launch quantization for the clip at the desired setting. Also, make sure global quantization is set properly, if your clips are set to global.

what launch settings are you using [top centre of the screen]. i use 1 bar. this is in direct conflict with what most people go for - some prefer 2 or 4 bars. i use this because i have had the same problem.

some tracks dont not follow 4 or 8 or 16 bar multiples. some breaks in tracks may be a bar late or early. just to aid tension or interest. therefore you cant use 4 bar launch it will be out. it means you have to be on the money with the launch - but no more than if you where using decks. set the warp marker from the new beat start and warp from there. if it changes again do the same. this will give a visual indicator of the new start point

go through each track in 8 bar sections and listen for the changes [each cymbal, break, drop, come back etc] - should land on the multiple. if not and the structure changes, try the settings like ive said.

please note i use scenes to launch multiple clips. although i dont think it should be any different.

hope this helps
