you're certainly entitled to you opinion, maybe you don't like beatboxing or his style of music, and that is fine. But I think it would be a fallacy to say that he isn't very talented as a beatboxer, and that he isn't using Live in a very creative way. Furthermore, he is creating his music on stage all-live on-the-fly, no prerecorded material at all--are you doing that? I applauded Kid and others that use Live as more than just an easy way to DJ, but rather really push the potentials of Live and use it to loop live instruments, be it bass, guitar, keyboards, or just your mouth. you might not like Bobby McFerrin either, but he too can do amazing things with just his mouth and body, and both he and Kid are very musical. I think saying he is wack is over the top...thelike5 wrote:Sorry, but I think Kid Beyond is wack...

first about KB.. seriously, it's not that creative. he's a good beatboxer but come on. my roommate started doing the same thing with live and hadn't even heard of KB and thought he was onto something. he has shitty beatboxin skills and still made it sound good.
and about the video kid, isn't anybody else curious how he didn't get spit all over the camera??? now that's skill!

Kid Beyond can carry the beat, a bass and SING LEAD LINES AT THE SAME TIME!!! OMFG how cool is that?? I've never seen or heard of anyone even coming close to that.rapidix wrote:first about KB.. seriously, it's not that creative. he's a good beatboxer but come on. my roommate started doing the same thing with live and hadn't even heard of KB and thought he was onto something. he has shitty beatboxin skills and still made it sound good.
You have to give it up for Kid Beyond, even if you don't like the music.
Uh, I don't think he's actually doing those things simultaneously--he's looping each part and adding layer upon layer of vocal tracks, at least from what I've seen in the videos. Reguardless, he is a good beatboxer, and makes pretty interesting music just using his mouth, music that if you had never heard of or seen Kid Beyond and listened to, you'd find it hard to believe the music was all made by one person's mouth and no "instruments"--the range of sounds is impressive.DeadlyKungFu wrote:Kid Beyond can carry the beat, a bass and SING LEAD LINES AT THE SAME TIME!!! And rapidx--does your roomate sell out fairly large venues in the bay area and tour the united states, and also act as a spokesperson/performer for Ableton Live--I don't think so.

I can't find them now but I swear I saw vids of KB, he'd do his thing, then say towards the end of the set, "OK, now I'm going to do all three at once, vocals, bass, drums..." and it didn't sound like samples, I'm sure they weren't. The stuff I've found searching has been more recent and it's obvious when he uses Live, he rants about it more than I doquandry wrote:Uh, I don't think he's actually doing those things simultaneously--he's looping each part and adding layer upon layer of vocal tracks, at least from what I've seen in the videos.
