watch out for the dnb / jungle and hardcore psy heads! I thought I would try something different. ive never gone over 145 bpm before....

Keep in mind this was an underage warehouse party with a dancefloor full off 15-16 year old ravers (Thus the cheeze, the bootlegs etc... check out my website if you want something a bit more psychedelic)

The set was at 2am and went without a hitch. A few bulging eyes when the tempo changed but after a few mintues limbs were flailing madly Smile

Also a few people been asking for the BEEP track seperate from the set, so heeeeeeeere it is... in all its wtf-core madness

The vocals are from a magnificent women called emily....That specific tune is a COSM remix of a tune called Lovers, but an awsome New Zealand breaks producer Funk'n Slo Cuts

im new to ableton, COSM-live-at-unity2006.mp3 is live recorded?
you did this all in one set?
then you gotta explain to me how your able play such a large set, is it all loaded into live at startup or how is this done?

How I go about making my live sets....it all begins in the arranging view. I get the general track laid down as a nice linear work. Then I cut alllll the loops up so every 4 bars a new loop begins...I then go into the session view and play the tune from the start, while capture and inserting scenes every 4 bars, and quickly giving the scene a name with a little code I develouped myself so I know whats coming up ( >BASS means bass kicks in, *-synthdrop means the synth drops out etc....).

I then spend some time rearraging the session view so its a bit more live friendly etc...then im all ready to go. I do this with the entireset....so in the arranging view I have the entire sets basic structure set out, and in the session view I have every single loop laid out for me. I work with about 28 tracks all up.

My canvas is set out very tidily... Track 1 = Bass with a C4 Compressor and an L2 Limited, and an autofilter if i want to mess with the timbre.,,track two is the kick drum with an eq to cut <60hz or so, and a c4 and acompressor. The rest of the tracks each have various effects over them..filters...delays... a few have some limiters... but i pretty much have everything i need in those 28 tracks for all the live realtime effects I want to acheive. I also have 4 sends (6 for my dub set) which the first three have a delay (which cuts of with a HPF for that skankout/degredation effect) and the delay is set at different intervals. The fouth is a long reverb. My final track is a line in from my sound card so I can record real time loops from external sources (synths, mics etc).

So yeh, thats my canvas... thers a few other little quirky things I do but them my secrets

I set up all the midi realtime while playing...assigning knobs to this and that and clips to keys on me keyboard.

There is no djing element to the tunes.. All of the tunes are..err original unofficial bootlegs? so its all original except for the stolen vocals. The second live set is more original, without the bootlegs.

i havent heard any dnb yet though, so the thread title was a bit misleading. and technically you should've posted this in the link your music forum, but these are unrelated to the quality.

its quite good so far though.

I actually really like what the COSM did with the black eyed peas and queen parts. The extra layers do a good job of keeping the mood of the set and subduing the pop-iness.

i do agree, and i love the queen thing. but i didnt like the b.e.p. thing, even if it is subdued. today i will finish the rest of the set...

i like the stutter-vocal and dnb styles near the end. not quite typical dnb, but that is a good thing. i get sick of the typical pretty fast.
