You couldn't be more right...it's soooooo much harder now that I'm married and have a son. It's practically impossible.

Fortunately, being Muslim, I can have 4 wives, so I can still go for it...need to have that discussion with current wife #1 though. Any suggestions?

Why not quietly commit suicide instead? The outcome would be the same, but #1 won't have to go to jail...

Muslims don't know how to quietly commit suicide...we usually tend to blow ourselves up and take a few whiteys with us in the process. That's the only way we get those wonderful virgins in heaven...need to kill of a few infidels.

Besides, you're prolly right. Wife #1 is catholic, so she won't go for the multi-wife deal. Unless I move to Utah for a few years and convert us all into Mormens.

It's foolproof!

First month in the big apple was pure magic... but once the money was spent and I found myself busting my butt 5 days a week as a bike messenger (no greencard) I reralized that whatever it was I was trying to get away from..... it had somehow slipped in my luggage and after 6 months I was equally bored and went back home and started all over again.

Do i regret doing it??? NONONONONO I'd do it all over again - just for the hell of it.

:P
No matter where you go there you are but every where I look it's just depressing around here

I think a clean restart to my system would help - it's not the music I need a restart on...it's 100% better then it was a year ago today and everyday I learn something new so...it's not that I'm trying to get closer to the Ableton headquarters I just want a change of scene

Make some new friends and do some new sh*t - get all the wild and crazy shit out of my system...I've done some cool shit here but I'd rather just land somewhere fresh - bus some tables, give out some demo's, play a couple little house parties, maybe get in a club, make some music (I have the internet so getting my music out is not a problem) maybe meet someone new and go back to school somewhere else - get on with my life

just not here

basically I'm thinking of moving abroad to Spain - but I need to like give up my citizenship and get citizenship correct - not to mention find a job, learn the language and find a place to live

I'd have to ship my computer, records and bed but other than that - what else

anyone ever make that move? From here to there but I mean waaaaaaay over there?

Is it a long process or easy?

Why does my life suck - well lets see, ahh fuck it I'm not goign ot go into details I just want to get out of America and start over

Actually I'd bring all my samples to tell the truth so not completely over ;)
Spain is fantastic, my fav place in Europe, however money is low unless you break into Ibiza circuit.
Germany is good for work and we have advantage as foreigners, I mean artists have it easier. Even racial issues can work positively, you know basketball and music stereotypes really work here., of course you would be expected to do hiphop.
What sucks is the weather and ladies ( though can be worse, for example UK, London is the most wonderful city in the world but the 2 aspects-disaster), cant wait to go to Spain again, just have to hook up some more gigs, hopefully next month will be there. Oh Espana,- Dominicanas, Cubanas, Colombianas, .....since I learned that you have similar preferences, damn, you will love Spain.

Well, there is the marriage route to new citizenship. And if Canada's on your list:

You could always check South or Central America. Not as strict on the whole immigration thing. I just take a trip back to the US every 3 months or so (this way you are still a tourist). Plus, the cost of living is much less, and they still speak Spanish.

well i have up and moved to hawaii twice. i am here in honolulu now. why don't you give the land of aloha a try. it is like a different country, away from it all and the electronic music scene is blossoming here on all the islands. oahu has a great house scene, maui and the big island do also. i left all my vinyl behind in california, i did not have the cash at the time of my moving to ship it, but you can move here with two containers, one for your car and one for your stuff for under 2g. as far as moving out of country i moved to el salvador for 8 months, but that was on a work visa and i did not bring much shit with me. but moving out of the country is possible if you really want to . i have friends that moved to prague, one ended up marrying and is dual citizen now. moving is a good thing though. i have friends here from seatlle, they kind of miss it but love it here.

peace

can't say i blame ya man. i moved from NY to Seattle on a whim back in 2000 and had to flee after just 9 months. what a sad place to be. not trying to shit on people from there or anything but i personally found it to be a really hurtin' place. all the ladies are walking around covered in polar fleece, no real delis, bars close early and the pizza tastes like american cheese and ketchup on toast. not to mention the political correctness and lack of balls and character on everyone. i could go on and on but i won't. the only cool thing was how cheap it cost to live there. i guess compared to NY anything is cheap though. go to spain man, go anywhere.

That's hardcore. I have very little patience for bike messengers in general (since the whole DIY culture made it all an indy scene versus legitimate street culture) but I am really impressed with your motivation and effort.

Buddy of mine, ten years ago once said: "going down broadway during rush hour on acid is like being in gradius but you only get one live!" I can only imagine what that psychopath is up to these days! 8O (he was sincere)

funny, funny, funny...ex-patriating to germany is all i've thought about since i "left" london last may. I've been in NYC since last summer, and although it is a beautiful city, i find it amazingly boring in comparison to london. i've even had to go so far as to quit 90% of my club gigs here because they were so soul destroying [bottle service, identical playlists in every club, big or small, police raids, and the lack of any, um..."pharmacuetical diversity" amongst clubbers (ie. everyone is completely coked up and mean)]. i had become a noise-novelty rather than a performance sound design artist. club owners haggling about paying me, yet still wanted me to show up the follwing week. drunk yuppies who could care less about music! and parties with hot artists barely pulling 50 people. one aritst i met here named g-rizo had the whole package; she was HOT, quirky, and actually had great stage presence with a mic and a laptop. last i heard, she just had her going away party because she got signed in switzerland.

I have returned to street performing so that i can concentrate on writing and performing my own stuff and selling CDs like i did back in the day. i plan to be in berlin within 30-60 days [ish].

i do know that it is much easier for an american to get a work and residency visas in germany than it is in the UK. you can actually come on a tourist visa and find work and lodging while your there and convert your visa. i figure that once i've secured the requisite paperwork there, it should allow me to work much more easily in the UK and other EU countries.

the bush adminstration has taken the wind out of so many varying types of sails that it is astonishing. the rave scene is DOA. everything "musical" seems to be ALL corporate now and all the hot shit that is created here that you dont hear, is tearing up dance floors in every other country excpet here. i've met SO MANY people who ask me why i dont just do music as a hobby, and get a REAL job...!?!?!?!?...in other contries, you may not get rich or even close, but if you're good, you get respect and you can earn a living with your head held high.

look me up when you get to europe. we'll go have beer.

makes you think though, in a city that size if there's alot of hot shit created there there must be some kind of underground scene (or even several) you just havent come accross - maybe it's just that underground (thanks to Dubbaya et al) - I mean the kind of underground where it takes a chance meeting with someone who knows about it because there's no trace...if they are getting that hardcore with banning glowsticks etc, it figures it wouldnt exactly be out in the open

but then I guess what is a scene if it's not loads of places to go and variety. Yeah just ignore everything I just said! 8O

But it seems weird there would be people there creating it but not vibing off it out omewhere..but then I suppose there's loadsa bedroom producers who dont get out much...me included...

I'm having a bit of a come down in this way too - I didn't go out enough in the UK but there was always something happening and now I've moved to a place where there only seems to be banging Trance or Drum n Bass and hip hop - totally not what i'm into at all - there's a bit of breaks going on too which is fine but I'm not that into breaks that I want it to be my all.
