Record live bass in while using metronome???
Record live bass in while using metronome???
This is probably pretty basic but I can't seem to work it out.
I'm running a G4 dual 867, Live 5.02, Audiophile 2496 soundcard, behringer mixer, bass guitar & preamp.
I've layed down some beats and want to record in a live bassline. I've got my bass going through the preamp into a mixers line input. The mixers main mix out to the soundcard. I've got no problems recording but if I play along with the metronome or with my created beats, it records them as well.
I just want to be able to record the bassline while hearing the metronome or beats so it's as tight as possible.
Any ideas...
Thanx

I have a similar setup- I can use 4 aux sends to the soundcards 4 inputs. I also turn off input monitoring as i can already hear each instrument coming into the mixer.. Only fidly thing is matching the direct level with the recorded level..
and this you gotta hear: a man wished his neighbour dead the neighbour went fool crazy and come after the wisher with a chainsaw. cut him min two sections like the lady sawed in half act.
Thanks for all the respones, problem solved!!
I knew I could plug my bass in directly to the sound card, but the way everything is setup it would be way to much hassle to do that evertime I wanted to record a bassline. Totaly understandable though, regarding reducing unwanted noise.
I've now got the soundcard's 2 in's patched to 2 of the 4 AUX sends on my mixer.
Works just how I wanted.
Cheers!!
