Who Is That Guitarist With A French Sounding Name?

Post by Hypomixolydian » Fri Apr 28, 2006 2:04 am

Hi,

I remember ages ago someone giving a name to a pretty interesting guitarist whose name I just don't remember. All I remember was that he had a French sounding name, played some really interesting, quite unique and original music. He used loops a lot if that is any clue.
I would really appreciate it if someone out there could help me out!! I have tried a search but to no avail.

Please help and thanks.

May be Andre Lafosse?

He uses lots of loops in his work. His website : http://www.altruistmusic.com/

Speaking of guitarists with French sounding names... if you've never heard Lenny Breau, do yourself a favour. This is not about loops or anything, mostly jazz, but the work is absolutely stunning.

Good call. While we're on the subject, I've got to recommend solo acoustic guitarist Pierre Bensusan (starting with the 'Intuite' and 'Altiplanos' CDs).
Cheers, David.

Perhaps it is that famous sole guitar player, Philipe Filoupe. he does bootlegs, and writes his own thongs.

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't appeal so much. It kind of droned on a bit and lacked ooomph. I found that his music was nowhere near as interesting as Andre LaFosse's.

alright, while we're on great guitarists, my two favorites of all time: Django Reinhart, and Ernest Ranglin

I hear Pierre Bensusan has been using a looper in concerts too. That would be something to hear.
