The cheap bastard trigger setup :)
So you have alot of samples that you want to trigger and there are not enough letters in the alphabet to use in "Key map" remember that that "Key map" is case-sensetive which means that "A" is not the same as "a".
If you then get yourself another keyboard and plug it in and use small-case letters on the first and press caps-lock on the second. Then you have double the trouble.
Work like a sharm when using my powerbook and an extra usb-keyboard.
p.s. I forgot to say that this is probably old news, but I didnt find anything about it when I search the forums.

My old signature was pretty stupid, so I changed it to this one.

Damn! Brave new world... Now I really gotta start using those keys...ahlstrominfo wrote:So you have alot of samples that you want to trigger and there are not enough letters in the alphabet to use in "Key map" remember that that "Key map" is case-sensetive which means that "A" is not the same as "a".

Thanx!
Cheers
I use three keyboards this way for sequencing audio, video, and lighting.
You can also use alt and alt+shift to use four keyboards. A few of the alts that are reserved for é, î, etc only work the second time you tap the key, so best avoided.
You can use shift-lock for your caps, but you'll have to tape down the alt key.

I wonder if it works if you use diffrent interfaces. If you use one with PS2 and one with USB. I have no pc setup at home so I cannot try it.Machinate wrote:that only works on macs. If you try the same trick with a pc laptop and an external keyboard toggling the shift key toggles the other shift-key as well.

Nope. But a mate of mine is working on an "auxillary keyboards to midi"-driver, which would circumvent that limitation... very interestingahlstrominfo wrote:I wonder if it works if you use diffrent interfaces. mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
Yeah, i've just set up a second keyboard. I've set it so that each channel has 1 clip launch button, it just launches the clip on whichever row you have selected. The rest of it's used for navigating, and controlling effects. It's still in it's beta stage, so i might end up getting another keyboard, and using it entirely for launching clips. Unfortunately you cant seem to daisychain them together due to lack of power, and my g5's running low on usb ports.
How does eveyone else have theirs setup?
Here's a pic of mine:

Now that I read my post again it did sound harsh, didnt mean that at allRokko wrote:Sorry, I was just meaning how did people have their keys layed out if they have customised a computer keyboard.
Rokko
I just though you should post your set there aswell, if you want.
I'm pretty new to the Ableton Live way of working and so my keys are different all the time. Someday when i get my s**t together and know what I want to create I'll probably benefit from this though.

This maybe very newbie of me to ask but I can't seem to figure this out,
I'm having a problem with the Key Mapping. Most of the letters on my keyboard don't work when I assign them in the Key mode. A handful of them do, and they will ALL actually MAP when I assign them, but then after switching out of the mapping mode the keys don't trigger the things I assigned them to.
Did something change with v5? I never had any problem in v4.
